"Gym, gym, gym, gym, gym, gym, gym, gym, gym!" Chespin chanted as we walked along the roads of Cyllage City, "Where's the gym? I'll challenge the gym! I'll win at the gym! Where's the gym?"
"Be quite before a smack you with my tail, AGAIN!" I growled.
"I just want to know where the gym is," Chespin pouted. I glared at him.
"Where's the gym?" Morgan inquired, "I don't see it."
"The gym is on top of that cliff," Genevieve replied, pointed to a large mountain to the east of the city.
"Do we have to climb up there?" Nick asked.
"Well," Genvieve started, but she was cut off my Morgan.
"Let's go! More climbing, less whining!"
"Urg. Remind me how I got stuck traveling with her," Nick complained.
"It was your choice," Genevieve replied, "You can't complain."
"Great. More walking," Fennekin stated sarcastically.
Grudingly, our group started to climb up the slope, with Morgan and Chespin in the lead. When we finally reached the top, everyone was out of breath.
"Finally!" Chespin breathed, "We made it!"
"The Cyllage City Gym!" Morgan cheered, observing the building before us, "We made it!"
After everyone had gotten their breath back, we went inside.
"Wow," Morgan gasped as we entered the gym.
A rock wall towered in front of us. Colorful foot and hand holds were scattered up the sides. Close to the top, a man was climbing. He had grey eyes and his black hair much resembled the cliff he was climbing on. He was wearing the stranded climbing equipment.
"Hello!" the man called down, "I am Grant, the gym leader of the Cyllage City Gym. I assume you are here to challenge me."
"My name is Morgan!" Morgan called, "I'm going to be the one challenging your Gym."
"Great!" Grant stated, "The battlefield is on top of this mountain. You see, my Cyllage Gym specializes in Rock type Pokemon. I feel like all challengers should experience my great love of rocks. So I designed the Gym to accomplish that by allowing you to climb up on your own power."
"What?!" Nick shouted, "Do we all have to climb it?"
"No, not at all," Grant answered, "There's an elevator that will take you to the top. You don't have to climb if you don't want to. Just because you don't climb the wall, doesn't mean I won't except your challenge at the top."
"So, what will it be, Morgan?" Genevieve inquired, "Climb or ride?"
Morgan's eyes scanned the rock surface as she sized up the climbing wall. "I'll climb," she stated, "Coming Chespin?"
"You bet!" Chespin exclaimed, launching himself at the wall and scrambling up it was fast as he could.
I rolled my eyes at his somewhat childish behavior and opted for the elevator with everyone else. When the elevator reached the top, Fennekin I raced out and peered down the rock wall to where Chespin and Morgan was climbing. To their credit, they were already about halfway up.
"You can make it, Chespin!" I called down.
"'Cause if you don't, the floor is more than willing to greet you!" Fenekin added.
"Thanks for the encouragement!" Chespin yelled back.
Morgan and Chespin eventually reached the top and hauled themselves onto the battlefield, panting from the effort of the climb.
