NARRATIVE !
Geno kept his promise and convinced Rudy's mother to let her play in the state championship, granted it took a lot of persuading. But Venessa eventually agreed after persistence and revelation of the promise from the Uconn coach, changed her mind. When Geno had told her about the promise between her oldest and her late husband, she felt the urge to help her keep it. Not to mention she could see Rudy was itching to get back on the court, and was more than ready. But that still doesn't mean she wasn't worried.
Sure Rudy could understand her mother's reservations about making a return to basketball so soon. When it was announced that she would be playing in the state championship the media buzz was larger than anyone could have imagined. With ESPN airing all of Rudy and her team's games live to millions, all eyes were on her daughter and that made Venessa nervous and have second thoughts about agreeing to this in the first place. But Rudy reassured her mother she could handle it, and Venessa took her word for it much to her teammate's coach's delight.
