NARRATIVE !
"Last chance to come with, Ru." It was early on a Sunday, and the Bryant family were early risers—their father was usually the first up in the house and Rudy and her younger sister Gigi normally followed after while the rest of the Bryant clan slept in. And today was no different, as the three had much to do.
Her sister and father were getting ready to head to a game that her sister was playing, and their dad was coaching her team. "But you've never missed one of my games," Gianna whined as she lay sprawled out her Rudy's bed while her older sister stood in her bathroom doing her skincare.
Her sister and her father were getting ready to head to a game that her sister was playing, with their dad coaching her team as he always did. "But you've never missed one of my games," Gianna whined as she lay sprawled out her Rudy's bed while her older sister stood in her bathroom doing her skincare.
With a sigh, Rudy closed the door and joined her sister on her queen-sized bed.
"I know, Gi, but I gotta get this essay done, or my teach is going to have my head on a stick. Not to mention, I gotta get a good grade in this class, or else they're gonna bench," Rudy said with a sigh, closing the door and joining her sister on her queen-sized bed.
"If I could come you know I would, I'm sorry Gi." the older Bryant apologised "I know I'm not mad it's just...I've never played a game without you courtside and I'm nervous." Her sister's confession made Rudy smile, as she wordlessly opened her arms to offer her younger sister a hug. Which she gladly accepted as the two clung to each other's warm embrace. Gently stroking Gigi's hair Rudy hummed a gentle tune.
"Nerves are normal Gi, all the best players get them. Hell, even Dad had his fair share during his playing days, and there's nothing wrong with that. But remember one thing, nerves mean pressure and what does pressure make?" Rudy said looking to her sister for her to finish her sentence. "Diamonds" Gianna smiled, a hint of confidence returning to her voice.
"That's right, and us Bryants we the brightest diamonds there is. Not to mention we got that mamba mentality, so ain't nobody toppin' us. I may not be coming to your game Gigi, but I am always with you and supporting you whether it be courtside or a million miles away. You got that?" Rudy said bushing a strand of hair behind her sister's ear, who nodded eagerly.
"Now you still want me to do your game day hair?" Rudy asked though she knew the answer. Gigi practically leapt at the opportunity to continue their cherished tradition, pulling Rudy toward her vanity with excitement. Gigi was very specific about her game day hair, as was her older sister so she made sure that no one—not even their mother—would lay a hand on her hair. That role was reserved for her big sis, and no one could take that from her.
Rudy stood behind her sister, who sat while she did her hair in a simple slick back ponytail there was a knock a the door with a muffled "Can I come in?" The two didn't need to ask who it was, as they knew that voice all too well. "Come in" Gigi shouted, her face lighting up. And in entered their beloved father and NBA legend, Kobe Bryant. Dressed in his coach outfit, which was a casual hoodie and loose-fitted jeans with a slightly puffed jacket on top to help protect him from the nippy January cold. He exuded comfort and authority. His presence filled the room, bringing a sense of security that only he could provide.
