October 31st, Halloween – The day of the battle

Halloween was often seen by the most superstition humans as an unlucky day, for they believed that on this day the boundary between the living and the dead was at its thinnest at night. And although (Name) has never believed in human superstitions before, and even if this one was associated with nighttime, the reality was that she was starting to see why so many believed this day to be an unlucky one. After all,

Today was the day Keisuke Baji died.

Having feared giving something away, yesterday you decided not to go back home, even if your heart cried at the notion of not saying a final goodbye to Miyu and not spending Keisuke's last hours with him – for you knew the moment he looked at your face, he would realise something was wrong.

After leaving Keisuke at the beach, you decided to make your way to the place where he was destined to die. Even having been here for so many hours, hiding in one of the tallest beams you could find, you couldn't help but hate how unfair life was – because how was Keisuke, a guy so fiercely loyal, with a strong sense of justice with his wild and rebellious, but even so soft, nature, supposed to die in such a dirty place and at such at a young age?

As you left your mind wandering, hours passed and the sun started rising on the horizon, and soon enough you felt a familiar presence sitting next to you.

"How long have you been here?" Tae asked, sitting as close to you as possible, using her arm to pull you into her side. Once in her warm embrace, you let yourself melt into her side, hiding your face into her neck.

"Long enough to hate this place." Even though your voice was muffled, you were close enough to Tae for her to understand you and at the sound of the noticeable hoarseness of your voice – you most likely spent hours crying, Tae mused – she pulled you further into her. "It's not fair, Tae, for him to die so soon, to die here."

"Oh, my sweet angel..." Tae said, throat closing in at the way your voice broke at the end of your sentence. She could hear all you were feeling just in the way you were speaking because even if Keisuke wasn't the first human that you had to say goodbye to and you had shed tears for, she had never heard this much pain in your voice. Although she was also hurting, nothing compared to what you were feeling right now. After all, you were the one who spent the last few years with Keisuke, literally living and spending time together. You were the one who connected with him, in a way you have never connected with anyone – not her, your other half, not even Cirilla, your mentor and mother figure. "I'm here."

Together, you sat in silence, basking in each other's comfort and support. Soon enough, people dressed in black and white uniforms started entering the construction site from opposite directions. Among them stood others dressed in various colours, but unlike the first two groups, they made for the sidelines. Once you gave them all a throughout glace over, you soon realised that the people in the black uniforms were from Toman and the ones in black from Valhalla – Keisuke's original gang, and the one he betrayed them for (still for unknown reasons to you).
