"What do you mean, Serenity?" I asked and furrowed my brows further with a small frown on my face. "You didn't do anything. Did you? I mean, what did you do?"
"N-N-Nothing," she stuttered and shook her head. She cleared her throat and shifted on my bed, and she looked between the two of us before she solely looked at me. Her hands were still covering her mouth while she stared at me with tears filling her eyes. "I didn't mean to do that. I-I don't know what came over me, but I didn't anyway."
I cocked my head to the side and silently urged her to try and explain what she had done, even though I knew that she wouldn't understand it or explain it in a way that she would understand.
'Was she supposed to be able to do that?' Mel asked, her voice barely above a whisper while it was filled with amusement. 'I mean, you haven't "claimed" her as your Luna yet, but that was an Alpha tone she used on us.'
'I know,' I said and mentally nodded, 'and I don't know if she was supposed to be able to do that or not, especially since she isn't of Alpha blood.'
'Should we bring this up to Mom and Dad when we get the chance?' Melody asked, and I mentally nodded in confirmation.
'Yes and we should talk about this with Aenes, too,' I replied. 'I don't know if she will try to do it again, but I don't want her to accidentally do it to the wrong person and get hurt.' "Seren, we aren't going to judge you if that is what you are worried about," I said out loud and shook my head with a small smile on my face, and my mate looked at me with wide eyes filled with tears and fear. "What happened?"
Serenity hesitated and looked at Mel, not saying a word. She wanted to know if Mel thought the same way as me; I could tell, and I hoped that she would agree with me about not judging her for what she had done.
"Ya," Mel said and nodded in agreement, offering her a small smile. "We won't judge you and want to make sure that you are safe." 'When are we going to talk to them?' she asked.
'You can do it now after we are done talking to Serenity and calming her fears about what she had done, but I was going to talk to them after a shower and a nap.'
'Then we can do it together then,' Mel said and mentally nodded.
My mate furrowed her brows and slowly nodded with a small pout on her face before she placed her hands in lap. "Well, I was mad," she said before she cleared her throat and shifted on my bed. "And I wanted to know what was going on and what you were hiding from me..." She trailed off and bit the inside of her lip, tucking her head closer to her chest while she furrowed her brows.
"Go on," I urged and slowly nodded when she paused and hesitated, licking her lips. "You're ok and safe." 'Go ahead and warn Mom and Dad but not through a mindlink,' I said to my sister, and my sister mentally nodded.
'I will make sure that we are in the office though before I tell them what had happened,' Melody said, and I breathed a small sigh of relief and mentally nodded.
'Thank you, Mel,' I said, and my sister subtly nodded but didn't say a word. 'I appreciate you.'
Serenity hesitated again and looked between us before she looked at me with wide eyes. "I felt this voice," she said, her voice barely above a whisper, "this power that told me to use and order you to tell me what you two are hiding from me, so I did what I was told to do and used it."
She sighed and moved a hand through her hair and across her face, grimacing while she wrinkled her nose. "It didn't work, though, and I don't know."
"Maybe because we are immune to it?" Melody asked and shrugged with a small grimace on her face. "I don't know, but your voice did sound different when you tried to do that to ust."
"It did?" Serenity asked and frowned, furrowing her brows further and cocking her head to the side.
"It did," I said and nodded, moving a hand through my hair and biting back a tired sigh. "But like Mel said, maybe we are immune to it, which is why it didn't work on us."
My mate slowly nodded and pouted, taking my breath away because I couldn't help but think of her as beautiful, more beautiful at that moment while she looked between us. "Do you think that everyone is immune to that voice?" she asked and cocked her head to the side while she studied us with furrowed brows.
Melody and I looked at each other before we looked at her. 'You say something to her question, T,' Mel said. 'I do not know what to say.'
I furrowed my brows and pouted, shaking my head. "I don't think so," I said ignoring my little sister. "But I don't think it would be a good idea to test it out because you might piss someone off that you shouldn't piss off."
Serenity slowly nodded and bit the inside of her lip while she looked between the two of us. "Your mom said I can talk to her about everything and anything that comes my way, right?" she asked and looked at me with a raised eyebrow in question, and I nodded in confirmation. "Do you think it would be safe for me to talk to her about this... alone?"
My heart stung when she asked to talk to my mom about this alone, but I understood, no matter how painful it was for her to say that she would want to talk to my mom more than me about this.
"It's not that I don't trust you both," Serenity said as if she knew what I was thinking. Her eyes grew wide, and her cheeks turned red while she looked between the two of us before she focused her gaze on me. "But I think that your Mom might know more about what is going on with me and how to stop whatever that was from happening again because I don't want to do it to the wrong person and end up dead."
"I know," I said and forced a smile on my face to make sure that it didn't show the pain and sadness I was feeling. "I don't want you to end up dead either."
"And Mom should be able to help," Mel said and looked at me before she looked at my mate. "She is smarter than she seems sometimes." She flashed my mate a small wink, and my mate hesitantly smiled and nodded.
My mate cleared her throat and shifted in my bed, growing serious, and we grew serious, too. "Do you think that we can keep this between us, please?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, and she looked between the two of us with wide, hopeful eyes. "Please? I don't want anyone else to know, and I want to talk to your mom about it before anyone else finds out about this."
"We can keep it a secret," Mel said, and I nodded in agreement. 'Even though we are going to talk to her about it first, right?' she asked.
'It depends on when she talks to her and then when we will talk to her. Either way, Mom is going to know and look calculative with a small poker look on her face going on when we or her tell her next,' I said.
"TJ?" Serenity asked, seeming fine with my sister's answer.
I offered her a small smile and nodded. "We will keep it between us and as a secret until you are comfortable with it being said out loud," I said and shook my head, and my small smile grew a little longer while I looked at her. "No one else will know that we know until it is safe for them to know. Deal?" I raised an eyebrow in question.
My mate breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded, and her whole body grew relaxed while her shoulders sagged with relief. "Deal," she said before she cleared her throat and shifted on my bed growing more serious with each passing second, and my sister and I frowned and looked at each other before we looked at her.
"Now, how did you end up in the hospital in the first place, TJ, and why wasn't I allowed to visit you there just to make sure that you were safe and alive?"
