I couldn't believe it. We were leaving Texas tonight.

I wasn't sure about this plan at all. My stomach growled for food. I wished that I was allowed to eat dinner. That was my punishment for being skinny.

No dinner until I could shapen up. No way was it going to happen if I was going to be starved by my parents. Unless...

"Dan? Can I ask you something?"

We hauled our old hoodless wagon stroller filled with grocery bags of food across the street. We even gathered all of our savings to use to pay for transportation.

Dan had most of the money, of course. He had about $200 worth of cash and we grabbed about $300, which was more than enough for plane tickets.

Yes, we were headed to the airport. We were going to fly to O'Hare International Airport, and we were gonna start our new life as runaways there.

We also brought a lot of our stuff in suitcases, so we had to put that in the wagon stroller. We then zipped the top up to make the wagon stroller seem like normal luggage.

Dan of course had to pull it around because of how weak I was. We took it in and bought the tickets. I luckily brought the IDs, or else we would've had to go back home, which was embarrassing and scary.

The airport staff gave us weird looks when they saw the wagon stroller, but we didn't care. This was our food. There was no way we were leaving it behind.

Our parents starved me. Now it was their turn to be starved. Or go bankrupt from having to buy all those groceries again. It seemed cruel, but it was what they deserved after all. Me and Dan dropped our wagon stroller off at the desk for them to take to Chicago, and then took the rest of our luggage through security.

We got through that smoothly, and we eventually got to our gate. While we waited, we purchased some snacks for the plane. Dan got me extra of course.

I appreciated him for being my twin. We may not be completely identical, but we were both born on December 29 by the same mom, me first and then him. We got on the plane after half an hour.

I fixed my tousled dark brown hair and almost told Dan to fix his, too, before realizing he didn't need to. Unlike me, he looked like a young Shawn Mendes, handsome and perfect, while I just had messy hair.

I had a few freckles speckled across my nose, barely visible, and tan skin. Dan had lighter skin and had no freckles. We sat in our assigned aisle in economy class and waited.

We eventually took off after what felt like hours and started our journey. Dan got out his tablet and put it on airplane mode, connecting to the Wi-Fi.

He looked up Maya Vincent, the girl who escaped the orphanage, and saw several results. There was one news article insulting her with explicit language. We didn't read it. She was five years old and already hated by people in Illinois. I felt horrible for her. After we read some more appropriate articles, we got an idea of where we were going first: her orphanage.

We soon landed and were on our way to the orphanage. It was called Star Kids Orphanage. Of course it was. We went there and we noticed two security guards at the entrance, scaring us.

Dan was brave and decided to ask them about Maya. "Uhh, hi. My brother and I were wondering if you knew anything about a girl named Maya?"

The female guard gave me the stink eye and frowned at Dan. "Uhh, I'm afraid that's private. Anyway...shouldn't you two be with your parents? Or family? Where are they?"
