At the headquarters, the atmosphere was tense yet focused. Sasaki leaned forward, studying the screen with intense scrutiny. “It’s more clear now,” she remarked, her voice steady.Julie, equally invested, pointed at the footage playing before them.
“The footage—look at his eyes…”
Sasaki nodded, analyzing the details.
“His eyes look bulged. Seems like he was involved in a fight right before… killing Amanda…”
Joel shifted uncomfortably, shaking his head.
“Couldn’t be.”
Julie furrowed her brow, glancing at Joel.
“I’m so bothered that you’re trying to defend them these days.”
Joel’s expression turned defensive.
“What do you mean, Julie?”
She took a deep breath, deciding to be candid.
“I’ll be honest; it’s so funny how I suspect you.”
Joel’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“What??? You think I—”
Sasaki intervened, trying to gauge the tension in the room.
“What happened, Julie? What do your words mean?”
Julie waved a dismissive hand.
“It’s nothing.”
Joel pressed her, clearly agitated.
“Come on, Julie, tell me.”
Julie smirked, leaning back slightly.
“I think you’ve killed Amanda.”
Sasaki and Julie exchanged glances, a moment of shared amusement washing over them.
Joel’s face flushed with embarrassment.
“Joke of the year, Julie!”
Sasaki laughed, the tension momentarily dissipating.
Julie joined in, her laughter ringing through the room.
“I know, right!”
As they continued to chuckle, Joel’s thoughts turned dark, a chill creeping down his spine.
"Better it be a joke,"
he mused silently, feeling the weight of their laughter.
Suddenly, a knock broke through their banter.
Julie rose to answer the door, her expression shifting from amusement to curiosity.
“Gojo!!!”
Gojo stepped in, a casual demeanor enveloping him.
