CHAPTER 8: Fractured Allegiances

Jasper's aggression had only grown more intense since her arrival, and it was clear that she was searching for any excuse to assert her authority over both the prisoners and Peridot. The tension between her and Peridot had reached a boiling point, and it was only a matter of time before it exploded.

One day, Jasper barged into the prison with a predatory grin, her eyes gleaming with malice. "I've had enough of your little games, Peridot," she sneered, slamming her fist into the wall next to Lapis' cell. The force of the blow made the entire structure shudder.

Peridot, standing behind her tablet, glared up at the larger Gem. "My methods have been effective. There's no reason for your interference."

"Effective?" Jasper barked a laugh. "You're a joke, Peridot. This prisoner should have been shattered by now."

Lapis tensed, her eyes flicking between the two Gems. The situation was spiraling, and she knew that if something wasn't done, it would end in violence.

Before either Gem could react, Jasper raised her arm, her fingers glowing with power as she prepared to strike the force field surrounding Lapis' cell.

"No!" Peridot's voice was sharper than Lapis had ever heard, and in a swift motion, she raised her tablet, activating a series of commands that shut down Jasper's attack. The energy dissipated before it could reach Lapis.

Jasper rounded on Peridot, her eyes blazing with fury. "You dare to interfere with me?"
