When Genesis saw him she froze for a moment. She forced herself to carry on walking down the bus aisle, and finally she reached her usual seat towards the back, just a few feet away from the backseat where Cyrus sat. It was definitely the same boy.

Genesis wondered what on earth images of the guy would be doing in her father’s computer. They were compiled in a folder of other odd videos among other things, and these things were clearly meant to be kept a secret.

Genesis was patient.

She waited the rest of the bus ride and when the bus finally pulled up to the school, Genesis ducked and watched everybody on the bus. She slowed herself as she pretended to gather her things in her school bag and followed the remainder of students last in line out of the bus.
She watched Cyrus carefully, but she started to get the sense that someone wasn't far behind her. Cyrus approached what appeared to be his locker, and Genesis floundered in the middle of the hallway, which was quite a bit out of the way from her first morning class. As she stood there, Soren and his violet eyed friends were fast approaching, and Cyrus was shutting his locker.

“Genesis!” Soren shouted, demanding not only her attention, but the rest of the students in the hallways attention as well, including Cyrus, who was observing from a distance.

Oh, here comes trouble now.

“Stay away from me!” Genesis said, turning to Soren, whose red eyes were partly hidden by his black bangs. She held up a hand, and the familiar pink essence poured out from her palms.

Soren took a wary step back. “Genesis, just listen—"

Genesis’ memory flashed to the burning sensation that Soren had once before inflicted. She instinctively held up a palm. “I said stay the hell away from me!” Genesis shouted, sending Soren flying backwards.

Genesis, confused, looked around frantically in search of Cyrus, who stood in awe at the scene before him. She locked eyes with Cyrus, who raised a confused eyebrow.

Genesis turned away from Soren and rushed over to Cyrus, who in reaction subtly moved away a bit. “Hey, woah, I'm not looking for problems,” Cyrus said to Genesis. “Seraph business isn't my thing, either.” He said, and Genesis followed his gaze to watch Soren receiving help from his violet eyed twin friends.

“What were you doing in my father's lab?” Genesis questioned. “I found these pictures of you on my scientist father's computer in a series of weird secret files.”

Cyrus’ eyes seemed to go black, and brushing his blond hair back, he moved to walk past Genesis, bumping into her shoulder. “If you go blabbing about that, I'll kill you myself,” he murmured to her, his blue eyes locking with hers. “So keep your mouth shut.”

Genesis was stunned. She didn't know what to think after hearing his response to her. She almost felt angry, not quite hateful, but angry that there was something more going on.
Genesis felt that anger boiling over, and fast.

I can get an answer for you, the voice of the unconscious came calling. I can easily coax it out. You know it, I know it and well, let's face it, my instincts are much better.

The conscious Genesis was quickly locked away by the unconscious voice which was no longer repressed. This unconscious gained control. I am her, she is me, the difference is, I am Eve.

Eve gained control and didn't hesitate, in the span of a few seconds, to grab Cyrus by the shirt, forcefully pulling him in close. “Tell me where the idiot scientist is or I'll show you hell and leave you there,” she stated.

The pink radiated from her skin, and Eve’s wings, which sat on either side of her head, were fluttering in rapid motions. She put a hand on Cyrus’ forearm and gripped tightly. “Tell me,” Eve said.

Cyrus stared back at her, clearly caught off guard. “You're going to want to get the fuck out of my face,” Cyrus said. When Eve’s grip failed to release him, Cyrus smirked. “Fuck it,” he said. He worked quickly, his eyes started to glow and electrifying blue, and something was clearly off.

This isn't Seraph energy, Eve thought, before being bombarded by a series of swinging fists from Cyrus. He's artificial. “This power isn't real,” Eve said, stunned. “You're some kind of cyborg,” she said, preparing to retaliate.

The pink energy flew out of her in the form of two energetic hands, which grabbed Cyrus and flung him against the lockers. Cyrus fell to the floor, grabbing his ribs, his electric blue eyes sparked and glowed in rage.

Soren grabbed Genesis' arm.

“Come on!” He urged her.

Eve looked at him and studied him. “You. . . You woke me up?”

“What? Enough crazy talk, we need to go!” Soren urged Genesis, whose unconscious voice remained in control.

“I see. By all means,” Eve said, peering back at an enraged Cyrus, “Lead the way.”

Soren gave the violet eyed twins a nod, and they rushed at an angry Cyrus, knocking him onto the ground. Soren was quick to grab Genesis' hand, guiding her away from the scene. Security guards rushed over to the students and Genesis avoided eye contact as the two rushed past the guards with uncertainty.

They darted through the halls quickly, passing the principal's office, and Genesis' subconscious was startled by the realization that it had, in fact, been Soren who had awoken her. Eve took back her hand, releasing it from his grip, and she studied Soren intently. “Don't do that,” she said, peering at him.

“Whatever, sorry,” Soren replied. “You're acting so weird. What's going on with you?” He asked.

“You say it like you know me well but you don't,” Eve stated. “I'm not her. The weak girl you met. She's asleep now,” Eve told Soren, tilting her head at him, her pink eyes darted away, the beautiful white and pink tinted wings on her head fluttering.

“Like an alter ego?” Soren asked, pushing the back door of the school open.

Eve followed suit and they slipped out into the staff parking lot behind the school. The two headed up the hill and stepped onto the sidewalk. “We should get out of here before anybody sees,” Soren said, concerned, one brow raised. His red eyes peered down at her and Eve shrugged, passing him by, and they started to further distance themselves from the school.

“Look, I don't have time to play hooky with you,” Eve said in irritation. Then a jolt of pain ached at the back of her head. She moved a palm to touch the aching spot and her vision caved, the wings on her head fluttering wildly, before she blacked out and the consciousness, Genesis slowly regained control of her limbs, fingertips, and her voice and sight, amongst other things.

She woke up in a bush.

Soren had been resting her against himself, propping her head on his chest, and he was scrolling through his phone, unaware she was awake. “What the hell?” Genesis shrieked, jumping up and away from a surprised Soren.

“Calm down, you nearly hit your head. You should be lucky that I was there to catch you,” Soren said, standing up and tapping an impatient foot. “Since you're awake now, and apparently too good for skipping school, I guess I'll see you later.”

“Soren?” Genesis asked him.

“Yeah?”

“I'm sorry for overreacting,” Genesis said.

“Oh, I think I get it. You're other you now, right?” Soren walked over to where Genesis stood on the sidewalk, out and away from the bushes and trees of the woods. Soren approached Genesis and she attempted to take a step back, then Soren lifted her wounded but now healing wrist. “I'm the sorry one,” Soren told Genesis. “How would other you feel about this?” He questioned, grabbing Genesis' face gently and easing her towards his, their lips connecting in sync.

Genesis groaned and pulled back, scratching the back of her head. “I'm not sure,” Genesis said. “Maybe a little pissed?” She smiled a small smile. “I should get home now.”

Soren smiled a small smile back at Genesis and nodded. “Suit yourself,” he said. “I’ll see you later.”
