JB's RWBY Volume 8: The Prince Of Grimm (Male OC Insert)

Chapter 7: Invasion begins

Harriet piloted the airship up into Atlas airspace, and from there they could all see the war going on down below, as Ironwood's military combated against the grimm army spawning out of Salem's giant whale. But the grimm weren't just coming out of the whale, they were being created by it. The Atlas citizens were being evacuated to nearby subway stations in the meantime, their restless panic drawing even more creatures of grimm into the floating city. Status report of the entire battle was being relayed via the airship's comms, and Ironwood's voice came through, "Beta squad, report on the creature"

Beta squad: "We've tried bombs, missles, but we can't make a dent sir"

Winter: "Sir. Schnee here" She walked to the front of the airship as she spoke on a direct link to the General, "Penny is still MIA, but we've apprehended Arc, Xiao Long and Ren"

Ironwood: "And Kai?". Winter glanced back at the kids' grimm faces shortly before responding, "No sign of him, sir. Must be with the others". Ironwood sighed softly, "Stand by for further orders. And don't let those fugitives out of your sight"

Winter: "Yes sir, of course". Yang scoffed loudly as Winter got off her comms, "Still just following orders, aren't you?". Before Winter could retort, a loud roaring sound shook the airship. Everyone turned and looked straight ahead as the airship flew closer to the battle, and now they could clearly see the massive whale-like grimm, the sheer monstrosity of which sent shivers down their spines.

Jaune: "That's...where the grimm took Kai and Oscar...", He hung his head dejectedly, "It's...bigger than I thought". Winter's eyes widened ever so slightly, "It took, Kai and Oscar?"

Vine: "Grimm don't take prisoners"

Yang: "Well this one did. If you would just let us go..." She was interrupted as the ship's comms came live again with Ironwood's voice.

Ironwood: "Cease fire. Manta squads, concentrate on secondary hostiles. Command is working on a solution for the creature"

Winter: "What do you have in mind sir?"

Ironwood: "We aren't making any progress attacking that thing from the outside. But from the inside, it could be vulnerable. Science team is putting together a bomb. When it's ready, we'll drop it off as close to the target as possible. And your team will deliver it on foot. Sending you rendezvous coordinates now"

Winter winced slightly, but responded, "Of course sir. We will hold the point and we will get it done"

Jaune: "But...Kai and Oscar are in there!". Winter gave no reply, instead continuing to look out at the battle in Atlas.

Yang: "You can't do this!" She lunged forward but was quickly held back and restrained by Elm and Vine, but still she pushed and yelled.

And while all the commotion was going on, no one noticed the pained expression on Winter's face, as she balled her hands into fist to hide the trembles.

Weiss had just finished wrapping up Nora in bandages as she lay sleeping on a large bed; in an even larger room in the mansion; when the door opened, and Ruby and Blake walked in holding steaming hot cups of beverage.

Ruby handed one to Weiss as she asked, "How is she?"

Weiss: "I've done what I can but, she needs a doctor"

Blake: "Hopefully May is able to reach the others" She sighed as she gazed out the window at the grimm horde out in the distance, "I really hope they're okay"

Ruby: "Hey, at least Kai is with them. Helps reduce the worry a bit"

Weiss: "He's not invincible you know..." Ruby and Blake turned to face her as she spoke, "Kai may be strong, but he can still get hurt..." her voice softened as her eyes went downcast, "....especially when it comes to protecting others". A short gloomy silence followed her words, before Blake turned back towards the window, looking out at the now dark sky.
