Get yourself a brother who will go ghost hunting with you.

I mean, technically we were just on a walk and the ghosts came to us, but still, ghost hunting.

It was late, probably like 10pm, but Dad doesn't mind as long as we are 'safe' and message him every now and again to let him know we are okay. Safe meaning not bleeding, broken or on fire.

Seb was walking beside me, hands stuffed in his pockets, face mirroring mine - no literally, we were twins. Identical twins. Wandering aimlessly through the night.

What's not to love?

We were far away from home, close to the edge of the New City and where the old Sector 45 used to be before it got destroyed and was now in the process of rebuilding. Seb and I had mapped most of these routes already, but there was one we hadn't mapped yet and that was our goal for the night. See what we could see. See what new spirits we could find.

Seb looked at me while we walked, breaking the silence, "So, what do we think is gonna happen tonight? What are we gonna find?"

I shrugged. "Hopefully nothing too violent. Remember that incident in Sector 44?"

Seb shuddered dramatically. "How the hell could I forget? We were sick for like a week. The dead there did not give us a break. Damn."

Yeah that's a downside of our powers. Talking to ghosts apparently comes with side effects like vomiting and being easily possessed. It is not all sunshine and rainbows. They take over and you literally have to fight to get your conscience back. Seb got possessed more easily than me, but still, it hurt nonetheless.

"Hey, G, you ever think about like, what if we find something we don't want to see and are traumatised and Luke gets his whole I told you both so moment?" Seb asked, turning around and walking backwards as he looked at me.

"I would rather be traumatised than Luke be able to say I told you so to me," I said, smirking. The woods were getting denser, more packed.

The New City was made on the remnants of Sector 45, where dad and Aunt Juliette met and helped take down grandpa with Uncle Aaron and Kenji and Nazeera and mom and their friends. Uncle James lives in the city now, working with the government to help people out of the Sectors and into more realistic civillisation. Dad always tells us about the dark days - when he was running from grandpa, when he and Uncle James were hiding out in a bunker somewhere, when Aunt J nearly died, when Omega Point got blown up, you get me. Dad told us a lot. But he doesn't regret it because he wouldn't have met mom, which I think was quite cute.

I grew up in the New City which was quite an experience, but my parents were so protective so me and Seb started to sneak out. That's how we discovered our power - ghost crap, as I call it. Came home sobbing to our parents about how the ghosties started talking to us and we were scared but mom explained why we got powers and now here we are 10 years later walking through some woods without a care. Ghosts don't scare me anymore. If anything, they are kinda a part of me.
