A glow brighter than a candle and purer than the sun on a cloudless day emanated from Belakher's back as Hades updated his status. The golden-eyed man carefully flipped through symbols that meant nothing to most mortals but were in fact the language of the gods themselves. He placed a clean parchment against the elf's body, and in a moment, precise information about the powers possessed by the Landgrave burned into it.
- Read - ordered the god, handing the piece of paper to his follower.
Over the course of over seventy years of their cooperation, the long-eared and the god had learned a lot from each other. The necromancer had shown his master how changing the dosage of ingredients could turn a deadly poison into a miraculous medicine or quite the opposite. In return, ruler of the Underworld had taught his servant how to use his language both in writing and orally. He began with single letters, slowly moving on to simple words, then writing short sentences, learning grammar and inflection through tenses and personal forms, until he was finally able to read his status on his own.
Hades hadn't done it for him for years. Unpracticed knowledge fades from the mind over time, and he wasn't going to let that happen. That's why after each mission, Belakher had to repeat his reading lessons. In addition, when they were alone, the god would sometimes speak to him in his own language and demand an answer in it.
The purple-eyed saw meaning in his learning. After all, who knew if he wouldn't be able to gain valuable information from two deities talking to each other, who would think that he didn't understand anything from their dialogue at all.
So he meekly carried out his patron's orders.Name: Belakher Landgrave

- I've reached the S rank in magic? That's good - said the elf modestly, although in reality he was as happy as a little child.
The improvement in his individual stats didn't surprise him at all. His strength probably increased because of the wrestling with the dragon. He had to run a bit, so the improvements in dexterity and agility weren't a mystery either. However, his spells played a key role in the fight, and that's why he gained most experience in magic. He didn't even get a scratch, so it's no wonder he didn't get a single point in his endurance. Many would be worried about that. This low statistic could cause him to drop dead if he took just a few blows from a really strong monster. However, Belakher didn't mind it much. That was his fighting style. Staying back and letting the undead do the dirty work. He just sent them support, incanted spells, threw his bident, and avoided long-range attacks.
If his dream was to come true, he preferred not to fight on the front lines and thus not increase the risk of his own death.
For this reason, after advancing to the second level, he chose Abnormal Resistance as a development skill. Reducing susceptibility to poisons and other harmful substances helped him many times in battles with poisonous beasts, or to survive after drinking unsuccessful immortality potions.
It was only at level three that he asked to add Hunter to his falna. The list of monster species found on the surface was constantly shrinking thanks to the actions of adventurers. For Belakher, it was an obvious choice. He often faced the same creatures, and the increase in stats when meeting a similar opponent made things much easier, combined with previously acquired knowledge of their attack patterns and tricks.
