The next time Cale woke up, he noticed the kids were curled up around him on the bed, sleeping. On and Hong were curled up to his sides, with Raon draping himself over his head like a halo.
Cale carefully turned his head to look to the right, his blurry eyes flinching at the shiny gold decorations around his room.
He had fallen asleep yet again. That seemed to be all he had been doing these last few days. He wondered when the last time he had eaten was, as it felt like his stomach was an empty shell craving meat, meat, meat.
Strange. It almost reminded him of the time he had used his shield at the battle of the Gorge of Death without Raon. That particular event left him quite famished in an I-need-to-eat Beacrox's-food-right-fucking-now kind of way.
Currently, Eruhaben was peering at him, leaning over the bed. He tried to say something along the lines of, "Why are the children sleeping here? What if they catch my fever?" or "Tell Rosalyn I need her to connect me to the Whale Tribe." but what came out instead was another coughing fit.
Really, Cale wanted to beat the shit out of GoD because of the timing. Whether or not any of this is his fault doesn't matter; what matters is that Cale's animosity for him knows no bounds.
'Oh shit.' He suddenly realized he would wake up the kids like this and tried holding back his cough while muffling his mouth with his hand as he slowly sat up.
The kids woke up.
"Human!"
"Cale nya!"
Cale-nim is awake!"
The children averaging 9-years-old chimed in one after another, from youngest to oldest.
Eruhaben had already summoned a glass of water and was gently tipping it down to meet his lips. He felt On, Hong, and Raon all pat his back, hand, and head, respectively.
Cale almost choked on the water, but On, that smart girl, must've noticed as she started to pat his back more firmly, the other two following her lead.
Coughing and choking caused a lot of pain. And since Cale hated pain very much (The masochist is lying~), he decided that he owed each of them a gold coin as a reward for saving him from it.
Eruhaben frowned when Cale asked him to summon his spatial dimension bag, but he skeptically agreed and gave it to him just as the kids pushed him back to lie down on the bed.
Still lying down, he opened the spatial dimension bag, his lips twitching slightly when he looked at the curious faces of the children averaging 9 years-old peering down at him.
He took out three gold coins and handed them each one, which they all eagerly took with a curious expression on their faces.
On was the first to voice her concerns.
"Thanks, Cale," she said. "But why are you giving us coins so early in the morning, nya? Is it time to pay for our meals again?"
Everyone, minus Cale, frowned at that. They weren't going to let Cale out of bed for the next week; forget about letting him go on an expedition of self-destruction. On glanced at Eruhaben, and he nodded, signaling that this event would be brought up during dinner—no, lunch—today.
Cale also frowned at them, but for another entirely different reason.
"I don't think I've given you your allowances this week, have I?" he asked incredulously. "You'd be outside playing by now if you weren't waiting for me to give them. Sorry for that. Now you can go have fun."
