Newt and Thomas started walking, so the blonde boy could see everyting on the island. Thomas shoved him all the things they did there.

"There are the animals, we have some cows and pigs" Thomas said and pointed to the left side of the place.

"There is the place where we build the new little buildings. He pointed a few meters away from the animals."

"Thank you for this little tour" Newt smiled at him.

"Anytime." Thomas responded with a smile. He was glad he can walk around with Newt, just the two of them. He missed talk to him, God, he missed everything about him. His kindness, his smile, his voice, and the fact that he always was on Thomas's side.

"So, you and Sonya are siblings" Thomas begun.

"Yeah. I wasn't sure first, but now I am, I will talk with her tomorrow." The blonde boy answered, the smile growing on his face.

"I'm glad you have a real family member." Thomas said.

Thanks, but you know I consider you my family too. You and Minho those people I can trust with my whole heart. Newt said with a sincere smile.

Thomas felt so happy because of Newt's words.

"Yeah this is the same for me with you and Min." Thomas said, and it was true. Those two boys the people who means the real family for him.

"I'm glad for this" Newt answered, still smiling.

"Hey can I ask you something?" Newt started.

"Sure" Thomas answered.

"Uh, this is a little embarrassing but can I sleep in your tent until I get my own, please?" The blonde boy asked shyly.

"Of course you can, you don't even need to ask." Thomas answered with a smile.

"And uh, I just kinda don't want to be alone in the night." The blonde boy said nervously.

"Is everything okay?" Thomas felt a little worried suddenly.

"Yeah, it's just, "Newt started" I don't know, it's a little complicated." He said with a frown.

"You know you can tell me, if you want" Thomas said.

"Yes, I know, but it's not that important" Newt said with a little smile, but he looked nervous.

"Well, alright then" Thomas said. He wanted to know Newt's problem, but if his friend didn't want to talk about it, then Thomas won't force it.

They were still walking, now they reached that stone, where were the names of those who are no longer with them.

"Oh, it's so weird to see my name here" Newt said as he looked at the stone and the names on it.

"And there is Teresa's too" The blonde boy looked at Thomas with a sad expression on his face.

"What happened with her?" Newt asked.

"Uh, she fell from the roof of a building." Thomas said, staring at her name on the stone.

"I am sorry Tommy" Newt said, putting his hand on Thomas's shouder to comfort him.

"Thanks." Thomas responded with a small smile.

"When I realized I got the flare, I've been saying their names out loud who we lost, Alby, Winston, Chuck. And I repeated them over and over again." Newt said seriously.

"Yeah, I know about this" Thomas said, with a smile.

"What? How?" Thomas saw the confusion on Newt's face. It was kinda cute.

"You wrote this down for me in your letter." Thomas answered.

"Bloody hell, the letter. I forgot about that." Newt said with a little laugh.

"Thank you for it, by the way, it means a lot to me." Thomas said.

"Really? Uh I don't remember what I wrote in it. Can I read it if you still have it?" Newt asked shyly.

"If I still have it? Of course I still have it!" Thomas said. "I read it every day, I know it now all by heart now, but I still read it" Thomas said honestly.

"You are kidding" Newt's face was shocked, but he smiled.

"Would you hear it?" he asked determinedly.

"Yeah, why not" Newt said with a little giggle.

"Okay, but first," Thomas started, as he reached into his pocket and took out a piece of paper. "Here" Thomas handed the paper to Newt and he took it from him. It was the letter.

"You can read it and I will say it, so you will see I know it and I don't cheat." Thomas said seriously, making Newt laugh.

"Okay, begin it then"

Thomas cleared his throat, and he started it.
"Dear Thomas,
This is the first letter I can remember writing. Obviously I don't know if I wrote any before the maze, but even if it's not my first, it's likely to be my last..." And he said it all, looking at Newt's eyes, he had tears in them.

"Thank you for being my friend.
Goodbye mate,
Newt" Thomas finished.

"You see? I know it." Thomas said happily.

Newt just smiled at him, and then he stepped closer, and hugged him.

Thomas hugged him back, the closeness of his best friend suddenly gave him a weird feeling what he never felt before, but at the same time he felt comfortable.

Thomas liked when Newt hugged him. It made him feel safe.

"Maybe this wasn't my last letter after all" Newt said with a small laugh, as he let go of the hug.

"You can write me one more if you want" Thomas said with a smirk.

"You don't need them now, cause I can tell you the things and no letters are needed" Newt looked at Thomas with a shy smile.

"What kind of things?" Thomas asked, he didn't even know why.

"I don't know, like, everything. I could've write a lot more in the letter but I didn't do it" Newt said with a frown.

Thomas was about to answer when they heard Minho' voice behind them.

"Yo you two shank, Vince planned a campfire night, with just a few people, you in?" The asian boy asked when he reached them.

"Yeah, sure" Newt said with a smile, and Thomas nodded too.

"Then raise up your stupid asses and help with something" Minho said in a bossy way.

"Min, we are literally standing" Newt said, and he began to laugh with Thomas.

Minho looked like he was thinking for a moment. "Nevermind" he rolled his eyes "just come and help" he said.

"We should go" Thomas said, looking at Newt.

"Yeah, let's go" he answered.

The tree boys started walking back to help make the campfire, and Thomas felt like Newt was there with them all the time and he didn't lost him for 8 months.
