_CHAPTER SIXTEEN_
Hypnotised By a Yaksha
Sameer was getting a tad bit uncomfortable with the girls were giggling and fawning over the king cobra counsellor. It was as if they had never seen a male before.
"What's so special about him?" Sameer asked himself, which caught the attention of some of the girls. Collective gasps were heard while Arthur clings onto him with a wing.
"Counsellor Patel is the most well-known cobra in the world!" a rabbit camper gushed, clutching her hands to her chest.
"Not only does he work as a camp counsellor, he is also a dance instructor from Unicorn Academy!" Arabelle sighed, making a fainting gesture with a wing on her forehead. "The best dancing school in the county."
"Plus, he's so long and handsome~" a bottlenose dolphin camper swooned, making squeaking sounds to emphasised her point. Sameer wanted to gag the more he listened to the girls.
Arthur, who was clinging onto him fluffed his fur. Sameer guessed the bat was probably embarrassed at listening as well. He hoped the rain would stop so that he could investigate the tunnels that he found during one of the games.
Anything related to horror piqued his interest.
He was so lost in thought about the tunnels, he was tapped back into reality by Counsellor Patel. Sameer flared his hood as a reflex. But the king cobra's golden eyes glint with amusement. His attention shifted to the fawning girls.
"Please, I'm not that interesting," he laughed modestly, curling his body into a coil. "After all, I've heard so much about all of you. For instance, Arabelle is the best dancer of Selkie Girls. Is that true?"
The black swan ruffled her feathers in embarrassment. Counsellor Patel began to add on praises to other girls from different schools, making them into a giggling mess.
"And here I thought the girls don't have a sense of humour," a voice snickered on his right. It was none other than Beppi the Tasmanian devil. Sameer was surprised to see him here since he never pegged the marsupial for a dancer.
"Beppi, don't tell me you are here too for a dance?"
"Of course! I don't want to be stuck in the art room with Tek and Daymas arguing while Mr Serious is brooding in the background. No way I want to help out at the mess hall since it's boring!"
Sameer just rolled his eyes. As much as he couldn't keep up with him, the young Tasmanian devil had his best interest at heart. Both him and Arthur felt like little brothers to him, something that he never knew he would want.
"Just stick with me and Arthur," Sameer whispered, his eyes trailing the king cobra, who was slithering amongst the girls. Arthur was quivering beside him, his fluffy white fur puffed out to its max.
"I don't know why but Counsellor Patel creeps me out," Arthur whispered, a wing placed closed to Beppi's mouth while his head was leaning over Sameer's. Sameer could only nod.
He wasn't sure as well but then again, who was he to judge?
No one in his family knew Counsellor Patel just as much as the girls do. Beppi was just happy to be here while Arthur was about to burst like a dandelion. Sameer had the urge to coil around both of his cabin mates.
Something felt off.
"Sameer! Why are you and your friends sulking at the corner there?" Counsellor Patel called out, gesturing the three boys to come closer to where the girls are huddling together.
