Chapter 19

Alex POV (later that week)

I walk into Charlie and Riley's room, starting to fold and put away laundry.

I quickly finish and yawn.

'Maybe I'll take a quick nap before I go get the girls.'

I walk to mine and Mack's room and call Max who saunters in.

I hit the bed, "Come on Max, up!"

He hops up and cuddles into me.

I pet him and close my eyes, quickly falling asleep.

"Hey. Wake up."

My eyes slowly flutter open and I see a complete stranger looking at me.

My eyes snap open, "What the fuck!"

The woman chuckles at me.

I quickly scramble out of bed and back up, "Wh-who are you? How are you in my house?!"

She walks closer, "You mean, my house."

My eyes widen, "Holy shit, Alex. What the fuck is wrong with you! This is a dream, seriously, just a dream."

"Could be a dream, I guess. I just wanted to introduce myself."

I look down and close my eyes, "This is not happening."

"It's happening. I'm Ally, it's nice to finally meet you." She says.

I look up, "This is so fucking weird."

She laughs, "Why? Because I'm technically dead?"

"Well, yes, that. But also, you're my girlfriend's previous wife. And I'm like sleeping in your bed and-"

"And with my wife?" She asks.

"That too." I murmur.

She shakes her head and chuckles, "I'm not mad at you for that. I love you for that. You're taking care of her."

She pauses and takes a deep breath, "And you're taking care of my baby."

I gulp and nod, "I-uh really love them."

She smiles, "I know that you do."

I sigh, "She really misses you, you know. Like I know that she loves me, but deep down she misses you."

She looks down and nods, "I know, but I'm glad that she found you."

I smile, "I'm lucky that I found her. She's a good person."

"She really is. I have to go, but I just wanted to say thank you."

I smile, "You're welcome."

I watch as she turns to walk away and stops, "Alex?"

I hum.

"She'll say yes if you ask her to marry you. Maybe not yet, but she will. And you have my blessing."

I smile and nod to myself, "Thanks, Ally."

She lets out a breath and continues walking out the door.

My eyes flutter open and I look around.

'That was insane.'

Max picks his head up and licks my arm, "Hey buddy, I had the wildest dream."

He barks and I look at the clock, "Wanna go to get Ry and Charlie?"

He stands up and wags his tail.

I smile, "Okay, let's go."
