Rovena's Pov
"Thank you for your help miss. You were awesome." The boy praised, the subtle ray of sun that sipped through the puny roof space danced around his ivory skin. Now standing closer, I was able to make out a ragged eye patch that stretched over his head and back through his nose bridge, connecting the cheap withered material.
That can't be comfortable!
"You're welcome kiddo. Just be careful next time okay?" He nodded in response. I smiled softly then turned on my boots and headed out of the alley with was beginning to send gooseflesh up my neck. I hated dark spaces, not to mention how quiet it was, besides I had my own problem now.
I walked back the way I came. Stalls arranged serially in different colors starts to fade away as I strode further into the main city. I loved Arcane wholeheartedly, I would stay here till the end of time, till the day I draw my last breath.
"Just like you, dad." I murmured subconsciously, a smile tugging at my cold lips. I pulled my cloak further to mask my face as the familiar domiciles came into view."I didn't get that."
"Holy Fuck." I yelped, Jolting at the voice that came from behind me, a frown creased my forehead as I stared at the one eyed boy from earlier."Did I scare you miss?" He asked, feigning an innocent look. I sucked in a mouthful of oxygen with furrowed brows.
"Of course you did. Lil dude, you don't have to follow me, I'm not a member of "The Vile Fortress" that requires a thousand appraisal from rendering a little help, you can be on your way okay?" I gushed, making sure to strain The Vile Fortress under my tongue before forming other phrases. He shook his head with a half smile.
"Um... is this your way home?" I asked him. It didn't look like it.
"No." He answered simply.
"Then be on your way home." I cajoled, the crease on my forehead momentarily increasing and a headache forming. He shook his head again, then grinned widely at me, his elongated tooth on the sides of his mouth on full display. One looking like it was chopped off but in a poor manner that it looked uneven.Interesting.
"I can't."
"Why." I asked, irritation surfacing as I watched him tiredly. What the hell had I gotten my self into."Because I want to come with you, and grow stronger to protect you too and also I would like to marry you miss.." my jaws dropped. Where is the trembling little boy from earlier? The one that could barely form words? When did he leave the room?
"Um. Look kiddo, I would love to stay and chat, but right now I gotta." I clicked my tongue twice, then nodded towards my house direction before adding, "skidadle. So go H-O-M-E okay?" He shrugged his shoulders and I rubbed my temples, getting back on the track home.
When I got to the neighboring domicile next to mine. I could spot small shadows moving around inside. I looked over my shoulder and the kiddo had left. Thank goodness.
I pushed the small button on my torso, so little that if I hadn't done it a million times I would have struggled to locate it. My suit disintegrated and a more casual attire remains. A tight black jeans and a silky red top which was tucked neatly beneath the hem of my pants. Hugging my curves.
My boot morphed into a non mechanical one. A nervous sigh escaped my lips as I made my way closer to our quarters.
My hand hovered at the biometric access control system and I panicked when I realized my cloak wasn't part of my suit and therefore had not dissipated with it. I unclipped it and tossed it beneath the floating house, before slamming my palm on the Bacs.
