"We need to find Eren," I declare, frustration creeping into my voice. Leno nodded, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "Let's go see what the drama king is up to."
As we navigated the crowded rooms, the pounding music faded into the background until we stepped into the main living room. My stomach dropped the moment I spotted him. There he was—Eren—laughing with Historia like nothing had happened. She leaned in closer, her hair cascading over her shoulder as she giggled at something Eren had said.
Annoyance flared in my chest. I couldn't help but feel a rush of irritation mixed with something deeper—was it jealousy? Whatever it was, I wasn't about to let it slide. With a determined stride, I marched forward, Leno trailing behind me, ready to confront the situation head-on.
As we approached, I plastered a carefree smile on my face, trying to mask the irritation bubbling beneath the surface. Leno and I exchanged a quick glance, both of us clearly on the same wavelength—act innocent, even though we were both tipsy as hell.
"Hey, what's going on over here?" I asked, feigning nonchalance as I stepped up next to Eren and Historia. The laughter between them faltered, and Eren turned to me, his expression shifting from amused to slightly wary.
"Just chatting," he replied, trying to sound casual but the edge of defensiveness was unmistakable. Historia leaned back slightly, a knowing smirk on her face, as if she was fully aware of the tension radiating from me.
"Looks like a fun time," Leno chimed in, tilting his head with a playful grin. "Eren, did you forget about us? We were just looking for you!"
I could feel Eren's gaze linger on me, the corners of his lips twitching like he was debating whether to laugh or roll his eyes. "I didn't forget," he said, his tone light, but I could sense the underlying unease. I took a step closer, hoping to cut through the air thick with unspoken words.
As I leaned in, hoping to spark some banter, I noticed Historia's expression shift. The moment she locked eyes with me, her smile faded, replaced by a glare that could cut glass. Her posture stiffened, and I could see her jaw tightening as if she was trying to rein in her irritation.
"Y/N," she said, the name dripping with a mix of annoyance and something else I couldn't quite place. It was clear that she wasn't thrilled to see me hovering over her little moment with Eren.
"Just wanted to check in on our favorite party boy," I said, keeping my voice light and teasing, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was stepping into some uncharted territory. Leno raised an eyebrow at me, sensing the tension crackling between the three of us.
Eren seemed caught in the middle, glancing between us with a sheepish smile, clearly unsure of how to diffuse the situation. "We were just—" he began, but I cut him off with a wave of my hand.
"I get it. You're busy," I said, my tone more sarcastic than I intended.
Leno leaned in, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Honestly, I'd pay to see Eren get his ass kicked again," he quipped, smirking at me. I couldn't help but snicker in agreement, the alcohol fueling my boldness.
