This has part of Kiera Cass last chapter in the one.
I look to my right, taking in the guard stationed closest to our table. Aspen was distracted though. He like many other men in uniform was looking around the room, but he seemed to be trying to think of something. It was as if he was doing a puzzle in his head. I wished he would look this way, many try to explain wordlessly what he was worried about, but he didn't. "Trying to arrange a time to meet later?" Maxon asked, and I whipped my head back. "No of course not."
"It's not like it matters. Kriss's family will be here this afternoon for a small celebration and yours will be here to take you home. They don't like the last loser to be alone. She tends to get dramatic." He was so cold, so distant. It was as if he wasn't even Maxon at all. "You can keep the house of you want. It's been payed for. I'd like my letters back though."
"I read them," I whispered. "I loved them." He huffed as if it were a joke. "I don't know what I was thinking."
"Please don't do this. Please I love you." My face was crumpling. "Don't. You. Dare." Maxon ordered through gritted teeth. "You put in a smile and wear it tell the last second." I blinked away the years and gave a weak smile. "That will do. Don't let that slip untell you leave this room, do you understand?" I nodded. He looked into my eyes. "I'll be glad when your gone." After he spat out those last words, his smile returned and he faces Kriss again. I stated into my lap a minute, slowing my breathing and putting in a brave face. When I brought my eyes back up, I didn't date look at anyone directly. I didn't think I could honor Maxons last wish if I did. Instaed I focused on the walls of the room. It was because of the that I noticed when most guards stepped away from them at some signal I didn't see. Pieces of red fabric were pulled out of there pockets and tied across there foreheads. I watched in confusion as a red marked guard walked up and put a bullet squarely through the back of Celeste head. The screaming and gunfire exploed at once. Guttral shouts of pain filled the room, adding to the cacophony of chairs screeching, bodies hitting walls and the stampede of people trying to escape in heels and suits. The men shouted as they fired, making the while thing so much more terrifying. I watched stunned seeing more death more times in a handful of seconds then ought to be possible. Besides me Maxon was trying to calm Kriss. "Get on the floor." He told her. "We're going to be fine." I looked to my right for Aspen and was in see for a moment. He was in one knee taking aim firing delibertly into the crowd. He must have been very sure of his target to do that. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a flicker of red. Suddenly a table gaurd was standing in front of us. As I thought the word table guard everything clicked into place. Anne had told me this has happened before. When the rebles got the guards uniforms and snuck into the palace. But how? As Kriss let out another cry I relized that the guards who had been sent to our houses hadn't abondened there post at all but we're dead and buried there clothes standing in front of us. Not that any of this information did me any good now. I knew that I should run that Kriss and Maxon schould run too if they were going to make it. But I froze as the menacing figure raised his gun and pointed it at Maxon. I looked up at Maxon and he looked at me. I wish I had time to speak. I turned away and a look of amusment crossed his face. As if he suspected this would be much more entertaing for himself and much more painful for Maxon. He slid the gun ever so slightly to his left and aimed it at me. I didn't even think to scream. Almost as fast as the pain spread the crimson color spread across my dress. I looked up to see Aspen shoot the table who has just shot me. Now Aspen and Maxon we're leaning over me as Kriss ran to a safe room crying. I looked at Aspen first. "My first love you truley were a protecter never give up the opportunity for love because you didn't think you provided enough or" I was cut off by Aspen shushing me. I looked over to Maxon. I was now seeing black at the edge of my vision. "My last love. I'm just glad I can make you happy in my last moments."
"What do you mean?" He whispered with tears streaming down his face. " you said you would be happy when I was gone." I said the darkness taking over more of my vision. "Oh no my dear. Please no. I didn't mean any of it. Stay with me my dear."
"I'm not your dear." I said as the darkness took over.
