GERMANY, EUROPE || JULY 2024

The next morning

Sofia woke up later than expected. Sunlight beamed through the thin layer of fabric that attempted to shield the glaring light from forcing its way into her hotel room. A groan escaped her lips, the sound bounced off the four walls that surrounded her. Her head was stuffed underneath the pillow — desperate to hide her eyes from the harsh light. When her eyes finally flickered open and she was greeted with an unfamiliar room, that was almost bigger than her entire flat. It was then that she realised that the night prior had in fact not been a dream. She had up and left without any notice with a complete stranger no less.

Her eyes moved over to the clock on the beside table. It read quarter past nine. Reluctantly, she peeled the warm duvet off her body and lazily clambered out of bed. She headed towards the shower.

By the time she had gotten herself ready it was already ten to ten. Therefore, she headed downstairs to meet Oscar for breakfast. Sofia noticed multiple extremely expensive decorations that decorated the hotel walls that she hadn't noticed the night before. She recognised an expensive piece of art that was worth over one hundred thousand euros. The entire hotel practically reeked of wealth. She still didn't know how Oscar had the funds to afford it all.

In the hotel lobby waited Oscar. He sat on a rather uncomfortable sofa with his phone in hand. He aimlessly scrolled through instagram as he awaited Sofia's arrival. His eyes raked over the lit screen when a notification came through.

Oscar pressed on the tab which redirected him to his ongoing chat with Lando. Oscar bit down a smile at his teammates concern. Lando had made his concern for Oscar evident over the past few weeks, noticing how badly the breakup had affected him.

Have you made it home yet?

Er no, not really. I'm actually in Germany rn

Oscar was unsure what to reply with. He couldn't really say 'a girl' now could he? The whole point Lando was messaging him was to check up on him after his breakup. Telling him that he was with another girl wouldn't look very good, would it. Oscars fingers hovered over the screen — hesitating. The Australian let out an annoyed huff, turned his phone off and threw it on the empty piece of sofa beside him. He ran his fingers down his face out of frustration.

Oscar was abruptly pulled out of his brief moment of frustration when Sofia's voice rang out through the lobby. "Hello stranger."

Oscar looked up to be met with a pair of familiar green eyes. "Hello stranger." He replied. A cheeky smile graced his lips as he stood up from his seat. "Should we go for breakfast or do you want to get on?"

"I'm not a massive breakfast fan. I'm happy to get a maccies later."

"Sounds good. I haven't had a maccies in months." Oscar admitted as the two started on a steady pace.
