Houston, Texas:

Journee woke to the sound of knocking on her front door and her alarm blaring. She raised her head from Chris's chest; his eyes fluttered open, and they locked gazes, both smiling. "I gotta get up and get ready for work," she mumbled, slipping off of him. "Get dressed—that's probably Theresa, Crys's babysitter."

"Babysitter for what? I can keep her," he said quickly. "All I do is sit at home and take calls. Legend's the one in the field. Let me keep her."

"What about Jamie?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"What about her?" Chris replied, looking puzzled.

"We should've talked more last night," she chuckled, pulling on her robe. "You know... I knew that woman still wanted you."

He laughed, shrugging. "Yeah, well, you are a cop." He smiled, then added more seriously, "That's my daughter. I don't care what anyone has to say."

"And bringing your son into this? You don't think that was disrespectful?"

"No," he shrugged. "Now go on, get her ready, do what you need to do. She's coming with me. I'm not missing any more time with her."
