Houston, Texas:
Legend's arms were wrapped tightly around Maxi as her head rested on his shoulder. They swayed slowly, lost in the rhythm of K-Ci & JoJo's All My Life playing in the background of the R&B lounge.
"They so cute," Cameron said with a small smile.
"All this slow-ass music got a nigga 'bout to pass out," Woody mumbled, lifting his drink.
"You don't ever appreciate good music. Shut yo' ass up, boy," she shot back, rolling her eyes.
Just then, Phoenix approached the table with Michael and Yvette close behind. "Hey girl heeeey," she greeted. Cameron looked up, and her eyes met Michael's; she couldn't tear herself away from him. He smirked, sliding into the booth next to her, and she didn't even try to hide her smile. Phoenix took a seat next to Woody. "Nah, baby, tell them to throw on some Moneybagg Yo."
"Thank you, nigga 'bout to take a nap," Woody replied, as Yvette settled beside Michael. "They got the audacity to be dancing to this slow stuff."
Cameron nudged him. "You know this is Maxi's song, and you know Legend's been giving her whatever she wants since they were teenagers."
Yvette raised an eyebrow. "I thought they just got together like five or six years ago?"
"Yeah," Woody chimed in, "but they've been feeling each other since they were, like, 19."
"Hey, guys," Maxi greeted as she and Legend returned to the table. She slid in next to Phoenix, and Legend took his spot beside her, instantly wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close. "Bae, be nice and say hi."
"Oh, what it is, y'all," Legend said, giving a quick wave. "I don't understand why my food ain't here yet—it's been two whole songs."
Maxi chuckled. "Baby boy, it's been ten minutes. Let them people cook."
He sighed, slouching in his seat. "You right," he admitted, though he still looked serious about the wait, making everyone laugh.
"Hey, baby, let us get three more rounds over here," Woody said to the waitress as she passed.
"Of course, handsome, I got you," she replied with a smirk, and he flashed one back.
"I still got it," Woody said, flexing his arms.
"Ugly ass boy," Legend shot back, and everyone burst into laughter.
"Didn't I tell you to be nice?" Maxi teased.
"But bae, you know I'm not myself when I'm hungry," Legend replied, setting off more laughter.
"Get that boy a Snickers," Phoenix joked.
"Girl, don't pay him no mind—he ain't got one screw left," Maxi added, shaking her head.
