It's been a week since the revelations and emotional turmoil unfolded, yet the weight of the past still clung to Y/N like a heavy shroud. She found herself in Jungkook's home, a place that was once a sanctuary of love but had now transformed into a battleground of conflicting emotions.
As Y/N lay on the couch, staring at the ceiling, she could hear Jungkook in the kitchen, bustling around as he tried to prepare something healthy. He had been relentless in his efforts to care for her, but each attempt only added to the chaos swirling within her mind. "Y/N, I made your favorite! Just come and eat a little, please," he called out, his voice laced with concern.
"I'm not hungry, Jungkook," she replied flatly, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible, even as her stomach growled in protest. In reality, she hadn't eaten properly in days. Instead, she had resorted to taking sleeping pills to escape the relentless cycle of thoughts and feelings that tormented her at night. During the day, she swallowed supplements—tiny capsules that felt like her only lifeline to nutrition.
She could hear the clatter of pots and pans as Jungkook sighed heavily, frustration mingling with desperation. "Y/N, this isn't healthy. I'm worried about you," he pleaded, entering the room with a plate of colorful fruits and a smoothie in hand.
"I said I'm fine!" she snapped, but the sharpness in her voice betrayed the turmoil within her. The truth was, she was far from fine. The façade she tried to maintain was cracking, and deep down, she knew it.
Jungkook stepped closer, concern etched on his face. "You're not fine. I can see it in your eyes. Please let me help you," he said softly, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I care about you, Y/N. I don't want to lose you again."
But those words only served to twist the knife deeper in her heart. She felt trapped, caught between the man who had shattered her heart and the one who had been her solace. "Jungkook, you don't understand. Everything is a mess right now. I... I just need time," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Time?" he echoed, disappointment clouding his expression. "Time to what? To let this pain consume you? I can't stand by and watch you do this to yourself!"
Y/N's chest tightened at his words. "What do you want from me? I can't just forget everything that happened between us. I've tried to move on with Taehyung, but it's all so confusing. I can't think straight!" The emotions bubbled to the surface, and she felt the tears threatening to spill.
Jungkook stepped closer, reaching out to gently touch her arm. "You don't have to face this alone, Y/N. I'm here. I want to be here for you, to help you heal. Just give me a chance."
She met his gaze, and for a moment, the walls she had built around her heart began to crumble. But then reality struck her—she had chosen to stay with Taehyung, to find a path forward without Jungkook. "You were gone, Jungkook! I had to find a way to survive. And now you want me to just forget that?"
The tension in the room thickened as Jungkook's expression hardened. "I never wanted to leave you. I thought I was doing what was best for you... for both of us. But I see now how wrong I was," he admitted, his voice heavy with regret.
Y/N felt a flicker of hope, but it was extinguished just as quickly by the guilt of her feelings for Taehyung. "I can't just jump back into this, Jungkook. Not now," she said, her heart aching at the thought.
As Jungkook turned away, Y/N felt the weight of the world pressing down on her. She had never imagined that the man she once loved so deeply would come back into her life like this, reigniting a flame that she thought had been extinguished. But she couldn't help but feel as if she was slipping further away from herself, trapped in a spiral of confusion, pain, and uncertainty.
