"Have you got everything?" Morgan checks again with Gracie as she starts her cars engine and goes to pull out of Gracie's apartment parking garage.

"Yes, for the last time, I have everything" Gracie laughed at the girls antics as she knows how she can get when it comes to going places, "I brought my guitar too in case you wanted to play some more tunes for me" Gracie smiled over at Morgan in the drivers seat who smiled back at the idea.

"Of course" was all Morgan says as she reaches over and places her hand on her thigh before they embark on the 5 hour journey to the log cabin.

After making one stop halfway to have coffee and food, they finally arrived at the log cabin that Morgan rented out for Gracie's birthday tomorrow.

The log cabin was nestled in a quiet forest area, surrounded by towering pine trees and the gentle sound of a nearby river. The cabin had a rustic wooden exterior blending perfectly with the natural landscape.

"It's beautiful" Gracie commented. She was a couple of steps ahead of Morgan taking everything in.

"Yeah..." was all Morgan said, she was paying zero attention to the incredible log cabin in front of her.

Inside, it was just as incredible as the outside. The kitchen looked nice and rustic. There was a scent of pine and cedar filling the air, creating a cozy atmosphere.

A plush rug lies on the wooden floor, and a comfortable sofa sat opposite the fireplace. Large windows frame breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness, where wildlife occasionally wanders by.

"Come on, it's getting late. Let's unpack our stuff and put the fireplace on" Morgan says before picking up both hers and Gracie's bags as Gracie closes and locks the door behind her.

Time skip

"Come on, please?! It's my birthday tomorrow you have to!" Gracie begs Morgan to sing for her.

"No"

"Please! You can't say you've written me another song and not play it!" Gracie begs, putting on a pouty face. Morgan says nothing for a couple of seconds before giving in.

"Fine" they said as they grabbed the guitar. The fireplace was currently on and they were sat together on the sofa. They both had a cup of coffee each and were just enjoying each other's company.

"They say, you know when you know,
So let's face it, you had me at hello,
Hesitation never helps,
How could this be anything,
Anything else?,
When all I dream of is your eyes,
All I long for is your touch,
And darling something tells me that's enough,
You can say that I'm a fool,
And I don't know very much,
But I think they call this love..." Morgan finishes the rest of the song, noticing the massive grin sitting on Gracie's face.

"What?" She asked her, a little freaked out on the stare that Gracie is giving her.

"Why aren't you a singer?" Gracie asked, baffled by the girls hidden talent.

"It was something that crossed my mind. But after my mother died and everything in my family changed. I just... forgot about it" Morgan says with a small smile whilst leaning the guitar against the sofa before putting an arm round Gracie. They both lean together into the couch, the golden light coming off of the fireplace and bouncing off of their faces.

"What was she like?" Gracie asked quietly as they both watched the fire.

"She was incredibly warm and kind. She had this incredible ability to light up any room she walked into, just like you for that matter" Morgan says, smiling down at Gracie before returning her eyes to the fireplace, "I remember her laugh, how infectious it was. I remember how she would talk and scold me when I would press the wrong key during my piano lessons. But then laugh it off after and help me get it right. She would comfort me and help me whenever dad would start getting out of control. And then she got sick and.. well..." Morgan trails off, every memory of her mum coming back to her.

Flashback- 2001

"Come on mama I can't touch the peddle there's no point" a four year old Morgan complains. She was sat with her mum, Lorelai, at her mums piano. Lorelai was trying to teach her daughter a couple of notes but the child's complaining and hyperactiveness wasn't helping.

"Come on Morgan just press the notes, okay? You don't need the peddle right now" her mum tells her before playing the notes of Für Elize. But, once again, Morgan is distracted by a squirrel passing outside the window.

"Mama look a squirrel!" She shouts in excitement as she stumbles off of the piano bench and presses her face against the window. This only makes lorelai sigh.

"I never knew trying to teach piano to a child with adhd would've be such hard work" she says under her breath as she slightly laughs at the girls antics. After a couple seconds Morgan returns to the bench after getting bored with the squirrel and asks her mum to show her the notes again.

2002

"I'm scared. What if the other kids think I'm annoying because of my ahdc?" Morgan asks innocently, mixing up her words as she looks up at her mum. Her father was with her brother taking him to his secondary school as he was 11 years older than she was. It was her first day of year 1.

"It's adhd, hunny. And they won't, okay? They'll just think you're really really funny and then you'll get lots and lots of friends!" She says as she zips up her daughter's jacket and fixes her bobble hat on top of her head, "now, what have we said about messing around?"

"Don't do it, listen to everything my teacher says" Morgan says before turning around and looking at the primary school towering in front of her. She hears her mum coughing behind her and turns around.  She notices a funny red spot in the handkerchief her mum coughs into and how tired she looked.

"You okay, mama?" She asks.

"I'm okay birdie. Now go in there and show em what you got, okay? I'll be here to get you at 3:15" her says with a small smile. Morgan bids goodbye and hugs her mums legs before running inside the school.

2003

"Are you going to be okay?" Morgan asks her mum. Her illness had progressed worse in the last year and she didn't know how long she had left. Morgan's father, Dean, had turned to alcohol to cope. This only left him worse off than he was before.

"I'll be okay birdie. You just stay close to your brother, okay? I'll be home before you know it" lorelai tells her daughter before ending up in a coughing fit. This makes her heart rate start to speed up alerting doctors. Adam picked up Morgan from the chair and ran her out of there.

4 weeks later, 6 year old Morgan was stood at her mother's grave. She threw a flower as tears poured down her face.

She lost her best friend. She lost her saviour.
