How would you feel, floating through nothingness?
You probably wouldn't know how it feels but I know somebody who does.
Let me first of all tell you about our main character. Young Tom Miller has a fantasy of going up to space but he knows he's not clever enough to ever make it happen. At school people bully him because he is not in their class, he is in the "stupid" class. Tom's family always try to convince him that he is not stupid but Tom knows that the bullies are exactly right. Tom had never met anybody as stupid as him. But one thing that he is an expert in, is space. Our solar system and beyond. There was not possibly one book about space that Tom had not read. It just exited him so much, knowing that more is out there than can ever be dreamed of.
One day at school, Tom was in his "stupid" science class.
"Right then class" Said the teacher, Mr Swaynbi. "Today we are starting a new topic" he continued. Tom was sat as normal, in his seat third from the back, falling asleep. He did not think anything abnormal would happen today, nothing abnormal ever did happen, everything was always the same for him. Same classes everyday, break time he gets bullied, lunchtime he gets bullied. Same routine everyday! " We are going to start a topic on...." Mr Swaynbi paused for a short while, as they do on game shows before announcing the winner! "Space!" He exclaimed. Tom awoke from his snooze third from the back with a sudden shock. He was most definitely not expecting that!
