Chapter 5

A few weeks later it was time for the results of the competition!

Tom was sat in the assembly hall along with everyone else in the school. They were waiting for the results!

"I'm afraid there has been a change of plan" Announced the head of school, Mrs Soupeland, although all the students call her Mrs land of soup! "There will not be 1 person going up to space" She continued "There will be three!" All of the pupils of Understatward school took a sigh of relief, all of them now had a better chance of going into space!

"The first person going into space is..." Mrs Soupeland took a long pause "Timothy Greenway!" Tom looked up, it was the chav from the back of his class. Tom was now confused, he had completely confused himself. He still wanted to go, like nothing ever before, but he also did not want to go because Timothy was going. Mrs Soupeland carried on, "The second person to be going up to space is..." She took another long pause, "George Courtree" George went up to the front and stood with Timothy. George was the school geek, everybody knew he was going to win. "The third and final person to be going up to space is...." She took her final pause. Tom sort of relaxed because he knew he was not going to be this person. "Tom Miller" Tom heard his name, but didn't put the two pieces together, he thought he was getting told off for falling asleep. "Come up to the front my dear" Said Mrs Soupeland "You are going up to space!"
