I felt sad leaving the island, but I was dying to see my parents! After we got on the boat, Oliver started driving the boat away. I looked behind us and saw the island I lived on for 11 whole years! (Im 15 years old). I thought about Ellie, Lucy and Lily, and cried a little. I tried not to show Oliver, but I guess he noticed because he gave me a Tissue.
"So where are you from?" He asked me.
"New York." I replied.
"Ahh, the big apple." He sounded impressed.
"My parents were born in Canada, but they moved to New York when they met." I added. "So, where are You from?"
"Me? Oh I'm from New Jersey, I became interested in doing animal research when I found out my dad was head of the National Geographic Headquarters, and also I just love animals!"
"So that makes you how old now?"
"Im 26, I started 7 years ago, when I was 19."
I started to yawn. I didn't really have a good sleep last night.
"You tired?" Oliver asked me.
"Uh, ya a bit."
"Go over to the couch on the other side of the boat, you can fall asleep there."
I drifted into a deep sleep and started dreaming about being with my parents. We were all at the park and I hugged them. Then I sat on the swing and my dad was pushing me........
"Samantha, Samantha. Wake up, we have arrived in New York."
"Really??" I said in astonishment.
I looked around a bit, we really were there! I saw buildings, skyscrapers and even the Statue of Liberty!
"Ok, come over here." Oliver said while pointing to the door of the boat."
I slowly walked off the boat, onto the dock. He tied up his boat close to shore. We started walking off the dock.
"Ok, I we will walk to my car, I will drive you to National Geographic headquarters."
I did as told and we drove there. The car ride took about 5 minutes, then we finally arrived.
