In the spirit of Halloween. Here's a little something to get into the spirit🎃
-----It was supposed to be a night of fun, a much-needed escape. Kim Taehyung, the ever-optimistic one, had dragged Jeon Jungkook, his more reserved best friend, out for a night on the town. They hit the bustling streets, their laughter echoing through the neon-lit alleys, a stark contrast to the quiet anxieties they usually shared.
They devoured street food with gusto, conquered arcade games with competitive fervor, and even braved a karaoke bar, Taehyung belting out off-key ballads while Jungkook hid his face, mortified but secretly amused.
Now, with the clock striking 1:30 a.m., they stumbled towards the station, arms slung over each other's shoulders, the warmth of their friendship a comforting shield against the encroaching chill of the late hour.
"We just made it!" Taehyung grinned, his boxy smile illuminated by the station's harsh fluorescent lights as they slid through the half-closing doors of the last train heading out of the city. The train car was eerily deserted. The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting elongated shadows that danced and twisted into unsettling shapes.
Jungkook, ever the cautious one, glanced down the aisle. "Where is everyone? No conductors, no passengers..." His words trailed off, a shiver crawling down his spine.
Taehyung, though a flicker of unease crossed his own features, attempted to lighten the mood. "Last train, I guess. Everyone's probably asleep by now." But the silence pressed in on them, heavy and suffocating.
The doors hissed shut behind them, sealing them in. The train lurched forward, rattling through the tunnels like a beast dragging chains.
They found two seats near the back of the car, the silence amplifying the growing sense of dread that coiled in their stomachs.
And then it began.
The lights flickered again, this time plunging them into darkness for an extended beat. When they sputtered back to life, a figure materialized at the far end of the car, cloaked in shadows.
"Did... you see him get on?" Jungkook whispered, his voice barely audible, his eyes glued to the stranger.
"No." Taehyung's playful demeanor evaporated, his voice a low, tense murmur.
The figure sat unnaturally still, its form distorted and elongated by the flickering light as if its limbs had been stretched and contorted beyond human limits.
Then, with a slow, deliberate motion, the stranger turned its head. A grotesque grin stretched across its face, jagged and sharp, as if carved into its flesh.
The train lurched violently, and with a deafening clang, the lights died completely, plunging them into absolute darkness.
An eternity seemed to crawl by as they sat paralyzed, the only sound the rhythmic clatter of the train and the slow, deliberate tap-tap-tap of footsteps approaching.
"Don't breathe," Taehyung mouthed in the suffocating darkness, his grip on Jungkook's arm tightening. They pressed their backs against the seat, holding their breath, as the footsteps drew closer and closer.
And then – silence.
Taehyung dared to open his eyes as the emergency lights flickered to life, bathing the train car in an eerie red glow.
The figure stood directly in front of them, its face a horrifying patchwork of stitched-together masks, its hollow eyes gleaming with malevolent intent. Blood oozed from the corners of its grinning mouth, and the stench of decay rolled off it in waves, making Jungkook gag.
