The morning sun, no longer a harsh intruder, cast long shadows across the worn floorboards of the public house.
Dust motes danced in the golden light filtering through the grimy windows, illuminating the faces of the men gathered around a table scarred with the memories of countless spilled drinks and whispered secrets.
"So, it was the lover all along," Jimin said, his voice hushed, a touch of awe in his eyes. He ran a hand over his closely shaved head, a nervous habit he'd picked up during the years he'd spent behind the bar, witnessing the joys and sorrows of the neighborhood unfold. "Never would have guessed."
"Jealousy," Yoongi murmured, his pale fingers tracing the rim of his empty coffee cup."A powerful drug. Drives men to do unspeakable things." He looked up, his gaze piercing. "But what about the sister? Faking her death... that takes a special kind of desperation."
"She was trapped," Namjoon said, his voice calm and measured, the voice of a man accustomed to weighing evidence and seeking truth.
"Imagine living with a constant threat, looking over your shoulder every moment of every day. Death must have seemed like the only escape."
Jin, ever the journalist, leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with curiosity."But why return? Why risk everything by coming back here?"
Taehyung, who had been silent until now, spoke, his voice rough but steady. "Maybe she had unfinished business. Or maybe..." he paused, a shadow passing over his face, "she wanted revenge."
Jeongguk shifted in his seat, his gaze fixed on the doorway as if expecting someone to appear."We need to find her," he said, his voice tight with determination. "She's still in danger. And she holds the key to putting this whole thing to rest."
A tense silence fell over the room. The weight of the mystery, the lingering threat to the sister, hung heavy in the air.
"I might have a lead," Hobi piped up, his voice surprisingly strong for a man his age. He had been a quiet observer throughout the investigation, his presence almost forgotten amidst the flurry of speculation and deduction.
"Yesterday, while I was tending my roses," he began, his eyes twinkling, "I saw a woman leaving Minji's apartment. She looked familiar, but I couldn't quite place her..."
"Did you see where she went?" Jeongguk asked, leaning forward eagerly.
Hobi nodded. "She got into a car, a black sedan. I remember the license plate... wrote it down, just in case."He fumbled in his pocket and produced a crumpled piece of paper.
"This could be it," Taehyung said, taking the paper and smoothing it out. He read the number aloud, then looked up, his eyes meeting Jeongguk's."Let's go find her."With renewed purpose, they rose from the table, the sunlight streaming in through the windows, illuminating their path forward.
Once a silent witness to the tragedy, the public house now echoed with the sounds of determination and hope.As they stepped out into the bustling street, they carried with them not just the weight of the investigation but also the promise of bringing closure to a story that had begun in darkness but was now edging towards the light.
