"Have you seen Sunghoon?"I asked, leaning into Yeji's ear, the music from the speaker not too far away from us blaring over the sound of my voice. My face was blushed, the pink across my cheeks faint as I moved to look at my best friend, her eyes had a slight hint of confusion in them.
"Hoon?.. No i haven't seen him all night."
I looked down to her hands as she cupped her drink in them. I could only assume it was some concoction my brother had whipped up for her as an excuse to talk. A small sigh escaped my lips before I pursed them, shaking my head at her sentence while I processed it.
"Why? You barely even speak to him."
She laughed in a soft manner, to which I looked back up at her quickly and almost immediately.
If only she knew. If only anyone knew.
I started to turn away from her, brushing off her comment before I had begun to speak."Nothing. Don't worry about it, i'll be back. I'm going to get a drink."
I finished off the conversation, hearing a small mumble come from her in response. Yet, my brain was racing too much to figure out what my best friend had actually said. Moving through the crowds I noticed some familiar faces. My brother, Jake was sat on our couch with his friends, glasses lifting up as they took their own individual shots. All familiar faces; Heeseung, Sunoo, Jay, Jungwon, Ni-ki. A few girls surrounded the group, none that I knew of though.
I bit down onto my lip as I noticed a lacking presence.Sunghoon.
Laughter erupted from the group, snapping me from my thoughts just as I walked into the long hallway leading to a few bedrooms, mine being one of them. I stumbled a little, I was pretty tipsy but not to the point I couldn't handle it. My fingertips traced the wall, my other hand gripping my cup as I made my way to outside my bedroom door.
"This is so fucking embarrassing."
I mumbled as I opened up my door, silently cursing myself for even falling into the current situation I stood in. Fucking around with my brother's best friend behind his back, keeping it from everyone we knew.
"Out of all men, Park Sunghoon? The one who fucks around with every girl? My best friend?"
I could already hear my brother's reprimands in my mind if we were to get caught with whatever it is that we have. Whatever we were, we never really gave it a label. No matter how many times I protested silently. It was borderline exhausting, yet I couldn't get enough of it. I couldn't get enough of him.
"Can't even keep one promise can you Hoon?"
I continued on my ranting mumbles as I closed the door behind me, my eyes down to the floor while I placed my drink on my desk. His words rang through my mind as I replayed them as many times as I could. His words to me just from earlier from that week.
"Y/N. I promise I will be there. I'd never miss your birthday."
His eyes were so sincere as he spoke to me, or at least i believed they were. His cold hands were placed on my sides before he moved to wrap his arms around me.
"You know you're mine. I don't care about anyone else. You are my first priority right now."
I had stupidly listened to his promise just like all the times before then. Looking up into his eyes how could I not. I shook the memory from my head, looking up to my bed before stopping in my steps.
"I think I could keep a promise, I mean.. if it's you making it how could I not. Hm?"
His eyes were stuck looking up at me, dark yet soft as he spoke to me with his head pointing down just a bit. He was sat on my bed, hands intertwined, leaning toward me slightly. His hair was messy but perfect as I took in how he sat, his jacket had been tossed to the side on my bed. He tilted his head to the side, slightly squinting his eyes as he let out a small smile, biting down onto his bottom lip the tiniest bit before speaking again.
"What you thought I didn't come? Come here."
He questioned, leaning backward onto my bed a little. I began walking over to him almost immediately, like an instinctive decision my body knew. I looked at him and rolled my eyes at his words, I knew his game."Yeah Sunghoon. I thought you didn't come because the party started three hours ago, so you are late. Where were you, huh?"
I almost interrogated him as I spoke, annoyance in my tone. I stood in-front of him, inbetween his legs. He sat up to wrap his arms around my waist with his eyes looking up to me.
"Come on don't be like that Y/n. I just want to see my girlfriend on her birthday."With that simple sentence I had softened my gaze on him. He took the moment to bring me onto his lap, arms still around my waist before I moved my own around his neck. His face was a few centimeters from mine, our lips just barely touching.
"Happy birthday."
He whispered against them, and in that moment I knew just how bad the situation was. The Unbroken Rules that were now shattered.
Yet, to be honest, I didn't mind.
