Chapter 28: The Last Quidditch GameThe day of the last Quidditch match of the season arrived, and excitement filled the air at Hogwarts. The sun shone brightly over the castle, illuminating the pitch as students donned their house colors and gathered to cheer for their teams. Adhara Malfoy stood among the Slytherin supporters, her heart racing with a mix of nerves and anticipation.
Today, it was Gryffindor against Slytherin, a rivalry that always brought an electric atmosphere to the stands. But for Adhara, this match held a deeper significance. Fred Weasley, her boyfriend, was playing as a beater, and she couldn't shake the feeling that this game would be monumental.
As the players took to the pitch, the crowd erupted into cheers. Adhara caught sight of Fred in his Gryffindor robes, his usual confident grin lighting up his face. He was chatting with George, his twin, and as the whistle blew to signal the start of the match, the banter faded into the background.
"Come on, Gryffindor!" she heard someone shout from behind her, but Adhara couldn't help but feel her loyalty shift. It was hard to suppress the cheers that bubbled within her for Fred.
The game began with a frenzy. Bludgers flew around the pitch, and players darted in and out, their brooms a blur. Adhara felt her heart race as she watched Fred take his position, ready to protect his team from the opposing players. The way he moved, with such precision and fearlessness, made her chest swell with pride.
"Look at him go!" Vera shouted from beside Adhara, her voice barely audible over the din of the crowd.
Adhara nodded, her gaze fixed on Fred. He dodged a bludger, sending it crashing into a Slytherin chaser, and the crowd erupted into applause. Adhara couldn't help but join in, her hands clapping together enthusiastically. Fred's laughter rang out as he celebrated with George, and Adhara felt a warmth spread through her.
The match progressed and Gryffindor quickly established a lead. Fred's agility and skill as a beater shone brightly as he expertly knocked bludgers away from his teammates while targeting Slytherin's players with precision. Adhara found herself on the edge of her seat, her heart pounding in rhythm with the game.
"Fred! Go, Fred!" she shouted, feeling the adrenaline rush through her. The cheers of the crowd intensified, and for a moment, it felt like they were all united in their excitement.
With each move, Adhara felt her worries melt away. Watching Fred in his element, competing fiercely, made her realize how much she loved seeing him so passionate about the sport. It was a side of him that made her heart soar.
The match neared its climax and the tension escalated. Slytherin was determined to catch up, and their seekers were locked in a fierce chase for the golden snitch. Adhara's eyes darted between the players, anxiety gripping her. She could see Fred keeping a watchful eye, ready to protect his teammates at a moment's notice.
Then, in a daring move that had everyone gasping, Fred launched himself into the air, soaring above the field as he intercepted a bludger aimed at the Gryffindor seeker. The crowd erupted in a roar, and Adhara's heart raced at the sight of him executing such a bold maneuver. He was fearless, and the way he handled himself made her feel alive.
"Go, Fred! You've got this!" Adhara shouted, her voice carrying over the crowd. She didn't care who heard her; she was lost in the moment, completely enveloped by the excitement.
In a matter of seconds, the Gryffindor seeker finally caught the snitch, securing the win for their team. The stands exploded in cheers as the players celebrated on the pitch. Adhara leapt to her feet, clapping and shouting along with the rest of the Gryffindors, pride swelling in her chest for Fred and his remarkable performance.
Fred, amidst the jubilant chaos, spotted Adhara in the stands. His eyes lit up, and he beamed as he flew over to her, still on his broom. "Did you see that?!" he shouted, practically vibrating with excitement.
"You were amazing!" Adhara shouted back, unable to contain her enthusiasm. "You played like a legend!"
With a laugh, Fred dismounted and rushed toward her, his face flushed with exhilaration. He pulled her into a tight embrace, lifting her slightly off the ground. Adhara wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling his warmth radiate through her.
"I couldn't have done it without you cheering me on," he said, a playful glint in his eyes. "I could hear you from the pitch!"
"I'm so proud of you," Adhara replied, smiling brightly.
Fred's expression softened as he stepped back slightly, looking deep into her eyes. "I want you to be a part of all my victories."
Adhara's heart raced, and she felt a wave of affection wash over her. "You've already made me a part of it, Fred. You've shown me so much."
In that instant, with the celebration around them, the world faded away. The noise of the crowd, the other players celebrating, it all melted into the background as Fred leaned closer. Adhara could feel the heat radiating between them, the anticipation hanging in the air.
Without thinking, Fred cupped her face, his thumb brushing over her cheek. "Can I—"
Before he could finish, Adhara leaned in, capturing his lips with her own. The kiss was tender and filled with the promise of everything they had shared that day. It was passionate and sweet, and Adhara felt herself melting into him, her fingers tangling in his hair as they lost themselves in the moment.
When they finally pulled apart, both breathless and smiling, Fred's eyes sparkled with happiness. "That was... wow."
Adhara laughed softly, feeling lighter than she had in days. "Yeah, wow."
"Let's get back to celebrating. We won!" Fred exclaimed, carefully grabbing her hand.
When they joined the throng of students, Adhara couldn't shake the joy that filled her. Fred's presence made everything feel brighter.
