Chapter 31: A Home Away from Home

The atmosphere in Hogwarts was charged with excitement as students prepared for the upcoming three-day break. Many eagerly packed their belongings, eager to return home, while others planned spontaneous adventures. Adhara Malfoy, however, felt a familiar knot in her stomach at the thought of returning to the Malfoy Manor.

"Are you going home?" Draco asked, his brow slightly furrowed as they walked through the bustling corridors after the announcement.

"No," Adhara replied, shaking her head. "I don't think I can handle it right now."

Draco's expression softened with understanding. "I get it. You'd rather stay here than deal with all that. Just be careful, okay? I don't want you to be alone if you don't have to be."

"I appreciate it," Adhara said, giving him a grateful smile. "I might just hang out in the library or something."

"Just be careful not to get lost in there," he joked lightly, attempting to lift the mood.

As they continued their conversation, Adhara's thoughts drifted to Fred Weasley. The way he had always managed to light up her days filled her with warmth. She decided she would talk to him about her plans.

"Hey, I think I'll go find Fred," she said, feeling a rush of excitement. "Take care, Draco"

"Sure," Draco replied, watching her go with a smile.

Adhara made her way through the Great Hall, where students were animatedly discussing their break plans. Spotting Fred across the room, laughing with George and a few other Gryffindors, her heart quickened.

When Adhara approached him, Fred turned, his trademark grin brightening at her arrival. "Hey there, gorgeous! What's up?"

"Hi, Fred," she replied, her voice slightly nervous. "I was wondering what your plans are for the break."

"Not much yet," he replied casually, leaning against the table. "Might hang out with George and the crew. What about you?"

"I'm staying here," she said, gauging his reaction. "I just can't face the manor right now."

"Really?" His brow raised slightly, concern evident in his eyes. "You sure about that?"

"Yeah, I just need some time away from everything," she said softly. "I thought maybe I could just find a quiet corner in the library."

Fred shook his head, a mischievous smile forming. "That sounds a bit boring. Why not come home with me to the Burrow instead? My mum would be thrilled to have you!"

Adhara felt a surge of happiness at the invitation. "Are you sure? I don't want to impose."

"Not at all! Mum loves company, and you'd fit right in. Plus, there's a lot more fun to be had at the Burrow than in a library," he replied, nudging her playfully.

"Okay, that sounds amazing!" she exclaimed, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "I'd love to."

Fred's eyes sparkled with excitement as they finished gathering their belongings. "Let's catch the train together, then! George and I can take you home."

They walked to the train station hand-in-hand making Adhara feel an overwhelming sense of warmth. She and Fred chatted, their laughter echoing in the crisp air. When the train arrived, they quickly found a compartment, settling into the plush seats as the world outside blurred into a tapestry of greens and browns.

"Here's to an exciting break!" Fred said, raising an imaginary glass as the train departed.

Adhara laughed, raising her own hand in mock celebration. "Cheers!"

George, who had been listening to their conversation, chimed in, "Just be warned, the Burrow is full of chaos. You might not get a moment's peace!"

"Bring it on!" Adhara replied, grinning at the thought of being welcomed into Fred's lively family.

The train ride was filled with playful banter and laughter, making the journey feel fleeting. Adhara enjoyed the moments where their knees brushed against each other, and she felt herself growing more comfortable around them with each passing second.

As they approached the Burrow, Adhara's heart raced with anticipation. The sight of the crooked house, nestled amidst lush greenery, was even more charming than she had imagined. It was so alive, so full of character.

"Welcome to my humble abode!" Fred announced, grinning widely as they stepped off the train.

Adhara chuckled, her nerves easing. "It's incredible!"

"Just wait until you meet my family," Fred said, leading her toward the door.

As they entered, they were greeted by the inviting warmth of the home. The aroma of freshly baked goods wafted through the air, making Adhara's stomach rumble.

"Fred! You're back!" Mrs. Weasley exclaimed, bustling into the hallway with her arms wide open. "And you've brought a guest!"

"Hi, Mrs. Weasley!" Adhara said, her voice bright with enthusiasm. "It's so nice to finally be here."

"Oh, dear, just call me Molly," she replied, enveloping Adhara in a warm embrace. "We're so happy to have you! Come in, come in! I hope you're hungry because dinner is almost ready!"

"Starving," Adhara admitted, her heart swelling with appreciation for the warmth and acceptance radiating from Fred's family.

"Help me in the kitchen, would you, dear?" Molly asked, guiding Adhara toward the heart of the home. Fred and George followed close behind, exchanging mischievous glances.

"Don't let Mum put you to work right away," George teased, nudging Adhara. "We have to show you the real Burrow experience first."

Adhara laughed, enjoying the playful banter. The atmosphere was so different from what she was used to; it felt light and carefree.

After they finished dinner preparations, the family gathered around the table, and Adhara was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to engage with them. Stories were exchanged, laughter echoed, and for the first time in a long while, she felt like she truly belonged.

After dinner, Fred pulled Adhara aside, away from the chaos. "So, what do you think so far?"

"It's amazing," she said, her eyes sparkling. "I can't believe how welcoming your family is. Thank you for bringing me here."

Fred's expression softened, and he leaned closer. "You deserve to be here. You fit right in, Addy."

Adhara's heart swelled at the nickname. They shared a comfortable silence, both of them feeling the warmth of the moment.
