The collar that held her chained in that short moment to answer him. Freed her.
To be more open in what she wanted and speak words she usually doesn't say.
Let her curiosity explore what's never been experienced and only spoken about. There's no hiding what she feels now, as was for Edmond.
Just in the longing silence between them, Edmond never uttered a word; his lips apart froze and so did his body. Jane's fingers traced his sweltering skin, its flaming heat overpowering hers in a single touch.
Brushing his bangs off his forehead, ruffling the layers to a mess. The only area that felt like the night's air, soft yet chilly—comforting the flame in her nerves.

He rubbed his jaw before looking back at her, locking the door shortly after.
The lamp on her desk lit, dim in the outskirts in the corner of her room but enough to see each other's faces with the ceiling light now off.
"You sure about this?" She nods.
"Really?" "Really."
She wants him to. She wants this. There's no turning back. Not like last time. Edmond kept his distance, processing her answer. His mind raced to decide whether to proceed or not.
