It was evening once more, team seven having stayed with Tazuna for a couple days to protect him. Naruto had again insisted on helping Tsunami with making the food, and though she immediately denied the help, he didn't let that stop him from helping anyway.
As they were all eating, except Tsunami's son, Inari, who was picking quietly at the food, not eating it, he suddenly stood, everyone turning his way at the sudden movement. He glared at the ninja around the tble, his eyes staying at Naruto, who was sitting in the opposite end of the table.
"Why do you even try," he said, anger in his voice, "when you're gonna get killed anyway?" Naruto looked at him with slight surprise. "Gato will just come and kill you!" "Why do you think that," he asked, voice calm. Inari looked up at him, eyes glazed with unshed tears, anger burning hot like the sun.
"You don't know anything about pain! What it feels like!" Naruto pursed his lips silently and smiled with such warmth that Sasuke had to look away so nobody noticed the changed colour of his pale face. "I think I know that better than most." The reply Naruto gave made Inari look at him with even more anger. Then he turned and left.
Under the table, tanned hands were clenched, nails marking the inside of the palm. "I'm going out for a bit," hes simply said and disappeared out the front door. The others just stared at the door before Kakashi slowly got up and told that he was going to talk to Inari.
As a silver haired head poked into Inari's room, he saw that hewas sitting outside, legs dangling over the edge. He sniffed in, a photo in his hand. Kakashi went out and sat beside the little boy. He sighed and looked down, Inari wiping tears from his face.
"You know, Naruto's been through a lot," he gave Inari a sad look, "I mean the village we live in doesn't really like him and he's been bullied many times. He's got people talking behind his back, people giving him dirty looks and sometimes they even throw stuff at him."
Kakashi let out a sigh. "He doesn't have a good life. It's been like that since he was born, and it's all because of something he can't even control. And on top of that, he's never know his parent because they died the day of his birth, so he does know pain, he know what it's like to be scorned."
Inari's mouth had open, but he was just stunned to silence. He turned to look at the ocean before him again and Kakashi stood up to leave.
A few kilometres away from the house trees surrounding him, Naruto Uzumaki stood, anger in his eyes, but also sadness. He didn't blame Inari of course, but it still hurt to think about the pain he'd been through. He let out a frustrated noise and sat down on the grass.
He wanted to punch something, to scream, cry his heart out, but training kept him from so. God he felt pathetic. He laid down and looked at the dark sky. A few stars could bee seen in between the clouds as the drifted above him.
He closed his eyes. 'Hey Kurama. Do you know what mom and dad were like?" It hurt to think about them. "Well, they did care for you a great deal." The large fox looked at the boy before him, Naruto having let himself into the beautiful field of his mind, the only place were beauty was.
'You keep asking about the when you're sad. Tch, you make me worry too much damn it!' He was glad that his jinchuriki couldn't hear his thought, but it was the other way around too, they could only hear each others voice if they themselves wanted.

"Hey. You'll catch a cold if you stay out here too long." Naruto opened his eyes, the light of the early morning sun blinding him. He squinted his eyes at the light. and looked at the dark haired figure above him. The person looked like a girl, but by the size of their adams apple, they looked more like a boy, and the only reason he thought so was because of his perceptive skills.
"Oh, hey." Naruto spotted basket full of what looked like herbs or other medical plants. "Who are you?" "Haku." The blond had noticed the chakra signature, and had immediately recognised it as the boy from some days ago. The one who had helped Zabuza.
"I'm Naruto. What're you doin'?" Haku moved away from Naruto and began to pick up some of the smaller plants. "Picking herbs." "Why?" Naruto asked as he began helping the boy. Haku stopped and looked up at the other.
He silently pursed his lips before opening his mouth. "By the looks of your headband I'm guessing that you're a ninja." "Yep, that I am." Haku looked at Naruto with a look difficult to decipher. "You train a lot as a ninja right?" "Yes, but why are you asking me all this?" Naruto knew that Haku had some kind of motive when he was asking those questions.
"What do you train for? Or perhaps who?" Naruto's brows furrowed ever so slightly. "To protect those I hold dear. And of course my village. Though the ones I love will always come before the village, I think."
Haku smiled. "So you fight for your precious people? That's a good answer." Naruto smiled back at the boy and began picking up the small herbs once again. "You fight for your precious people too, right?" The long dark hair had fallen in front of his view, but Haku ignored it.
"Yes." The basket was now completely full and they both got up, Haku thanking Naruto for the help. As he turned to walk away, Naruto called out after him. "Your precious people are Zabuza, right?" Haku stopped completely, body tense.
"How did you know?" He didn't turn to look. "Your chakra is the same as the hunter nin who took Zabuza away. And I know that hunter nin dispose of the bodies where they're found." "Yes, that's true. But if you knew, why didn't you try to kill me just now?" He turned around and found the blond the same place as before.
"Why should I when you didn't kill me? I know for a fact that you thought about killing me, but then decided otherwise. And I can feel that you have a pureness in your heart, a want to protect Zabuza, and that's very admirable," he said, a smile streching acros the tanned face.
Haku stared. Then smiled. "Remember to protect your precious people, Naruto." "Could say the same to you." "I'm glad we could talk together," his brown eyes shone brightly, his happiness true. "And I'm actually a boy." "I know."
Haku was shocked. Most people just though he was a girl 'cause of his looks, and then there's a little boy, prably under fifteen saying he could sense him and see that he was a boy? They both turned and walked their seperate ways.

"Where have you been?!" Sasuke had managed to talk alone with the blond after he got back. "Just out." "The whole fucking night? Naruto! I was seriously worried." He smiled at the black haired. He felt a weird tingling in his stomach at the thought of Sasuke worrying for him.
Sasuke felt warmth around him. He blushed and hugged back. "Sorry," he heard the blue eyed mumble, his black haired head burried by the neck of the tanned. "You better be." Naruto pulled back, a slight pink colour on his cheeks. Sasuke had an even more prominent red that him i on his own cheeks.
Then their lips met. Sasuke carefully kissed back, the quiet room around them gone and they were in their own little world. Lips on lips. boddies close. Hands on a neck. Hands in hair. They pulled back, a stupid smile on pale lips, a soft on tanned. They hugged and stayed together, but soon the reality caught up and they knew they had to go.
