Life at the orphanage

chapter 10 familiar faces in strange places.

It took almost a year for me to get back to work. I am still uncertain if I should get too into details but what I can say is that I was assisting someone from long ago. Of course, that never stopped me from writing to the orphanage and keeping them updated. And when I was back, I had no idea about any of the changes, but I did my best to adjust.

First off and the most impressive, the room We wondered what it held had all the boxes moved and was turned into a Gameroom. The village itself got a glow up too, as well as a beach added nearby. Picnic areas had food now and the watering hole now had a water park. There are also a few new spots like the cave behind it or the docks. I had a lot to learn, and I needed to get started Asap.

I'm not going to lie, it was overwhelming, But I knew I had to do my best. I relearnt what activities I could host and was trying to adjust but I was struggling. When I was promoted to caregiver, I was happy but terrified. I did not feel ready My first week was really rough. I almost quit not going to lie I remember sitting at the desk tears in my eyes as I looked at the paper wondering how to resign When Gala, Gage Zara, Aqua Bree Ari, and a few others ended up busting in Giggling. Before I knew it, they dragged me into a shift with them and I ended up having so much fun, Gala and Bree were bickering like siblings, or was it Ren im not gonna lie I get the two mixed up, Gage and Zara were so encouraging I realized I didn't want too quit. I tossed my Letter in the trash and kept working I knew with friends like these well I'd get through the worst.

My Promotion to a custodian Was a lot smoother, I believe Devi made the announcement but I'm unsure, Zara Ran to me hugging me up and down as I stared at the board, I remember my first thought was "oh god I haven't even hosted beach trip!"

Zara giggled "That's fine most of the time we have not hosted an activity or two girl you earned it! Besides how do you feel"

Seeing the determination brought a smile as I replied "Like I can finally take care of uniforms rather than yell at Adelia"

Zara chuckled "Okay but be wary it gets old fast"

I nodded "Nah I don't think it will" Oh how naive I was...yeah, I think I barely lasted a week before threatening to Yeet Adelia in the washer Causing Zara to laugh and give me an I told you so look, Meanwhile, Gala Terrorized Bree with Classroom singing Making me laugh. Seeing Everyone Work Hard I wanted to give it my all, Eventually, I made a new friend her name was Frog...No I'm not joking I think she might have misunderstood the maid's excitement but...At least she didn't name herself after a food like Spaghetti or something...Granted Spaghetti sounds really good right now maybe I will have that made for dinner.

Me and Frog grew really close giggling as custodians always up to some shenanigans. We snuck so many pets into the washroom I think that Dio eventually approved a pet for us to calm us down that and give another Intern a break.

Oh! I guess I haven't really told you, See the main reason I am still here is apparently Our interns don't know how to fully cook things...they are amazing at seasoning just not cooking. Thus created a rule "Palias can enter to season and serve but never to cook and for god's sake make sure their hands are clean" The final part was added after one nasty incident when one forgot to wash their hands.

Week 1 of being A custodian was a lot of learning, I hosted Edan History for the first time and got to host many more activities, my favorite being Freeze tag. I have never seen orphans giggle as they run so fast! Still, I felt like I was missing something...One day while on break at the village, I approached Zara asking for advice

"Hey Zara?" I say sheepish

"What's going on?" She seems interested yet concerned

"Can I get your advice? I feel like I'm missing something that would make my shifts 10x better"
