chapter 23: she left

Ace's pov:

Three days, it's been three days since Ashley and I spoke nor have I seen her, it's been three days since Cruise and I spoke, and for three days I've been drowning myself in paperworks.

"Give Ashley her food",I instructed
"Sir, Ashley hasn't been taking her food, there haven't been any answers, nor has she come out", one of the helpers said, bowing her head down
"What? And why hasn't anyone told me this?",I asked with fury
"Would you have cared?", suddenly Marie asked from the kitchen
"Marie not now!", I exclaimed warningly
"Then when? Tell me, when? You, and only you are the reason for the state that that girl is in. She was locked up in that room in the first place because of you kidnapped her, and now she has locked herself up again because of you, again!", Marie said daringly, pointing her index finger at me.

I took the food and went upstairs, heading for Ashley's room.
I knocked a couple of times, still no answer.
"Ashley please, I'm sorry", I said, leaning my head on the door
Still, no response
I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly stood upright from my position and kicked open the door.

The door flew open, but there was no sign of Ashley. I even checked the bathroom, and still no sign.

I immediately ran downstairs.
"Where is Ashley?",I yelled
"She is in her room",Marie replied
"No she's not",I yelled again
"What? That's impossible, I last saw her entering the room", Marie said, panick beginning to rise from her face

"What happened?", Cruise came rushing out of his room
"Rota check the CCTV footage from the previous three days", I instructed
"Yes boss", Rota said as he rushed to the security room

"What the fuck happened?",Cruise asked again, infuriated by the fact that his question was unanswered the last time
"Ashley is nowhere to be seen", Marie said, panicking.
"The fuck!",Cruise exclaimed, following Rota's path to the security room

I soon followed, with Marie behind me.

Rota became silent as soon as we came in.
"What happened?", I asked in hesitation
"Sir, she....Ms Ashley left", he said, with a defeated tone, "-willingly", he added
"What's that supposed to mean?",Marie asked in confusion
"Just show us the CCTV footage Rota", Cruise demanded.

And there she was, she was still wearing the same clothes that I last saw her in, grey trousers and white baggy shirt with black sneakers, but this time she had a bag with her, a large bag that she was dragging with her one hand, and the other hand, well she seemed to be wiping her tears with it.

"What time was this?",Cruise asked, and it was my first time hearing his voice so shaken.
"Around 2 at dawn",Rota replied
"There you have it Ace, she left, happy now?",Cruise yelled

I couldn't  respond, what could I possibly say?

"Fuck this!",Cruise yelled, smashing the nearest vase which was on the table on the floor.
The broken pieces of glass scattered around.

Cruise stormed out of the room, and God knows where he went.
Rota also walked out
"I will clean this up", Marie said, leaving the room, probably to go fetch the broom

And there I was, all alone. Everything is falling apart because of me. I'm used to fights, where we kill and just move on, but this time it was not like that. No one got shot, I didn't get shot, and yet a part of me died.

She has left me, all alone, and the last memory of her that I have, is her crying, the tears that ran down her cheeks because me.

I took her for granted, and now I have lost her

She was right, if she ever wanted to escape, she could have, she did, and I'm the one who forced her to take such a step.

A part of me says that this is for the best, she could have ended up dead anyways, but a part of me doesn't want to let go. I want this to be the part where she walks through the door and says sike!!

This was a short chapter sorry, I was writing this chapter while at school
