"What were you thinking going to the forbidden forest?" My best friend, prettiest Ravenclaw, Lala Lagrimas called out from the vanity mirror as she was strategically putting on false lashes.
"She asked to see me. I've been putting it off for weeks" I paced my room, unable to stay still since the night I accidentally caught Jacks Heart practicing dark magic in the forbidden forest.
So many things were happening the way I didn't want them to. Order was the key to my peaceful life. Undisturbed peace. But now I knew what Jacks was doing in the woods and he was blackmailing me for my secret. One I couldn't control. One I didn't want anyone knowing.
I knew that he knew, and ended up avoiding him all summer to avoid confrontation. Both of us happen to the few students who don't come home for holidays and breaks so we see each other more than we'd like.
And of course of all days I go to the forbidden forest the one person I don't want to see is there.
"You act as if you're perfect. What would happen if everyone knew your secret?"
My mind flashed back to that cold night. Colder than usual. The one person who knows my secret is the one person I can't stand. This was fantastic. "I should probably also say this" I pause "he knows about her."
The minute the words leave my mouth Lala spun around revealing her short midnight blue dress. Her face dropped and panic set through. Being my best friend she didn't need to ask me what this was about. she just knew.
"Do you think he's going to tell anyone?" She asked unable to keep her face from showing every emotion possible. "I have no clue. He pretty much is blackmailing me." I bring a hand to my face and sigh. "On top of this I've received countless letters through Beau from her. She wasn't happy I didn't show up last night." Beau was my owl. "I can imagine. I don't know what I would do if my mom was Bellatrix Lestrange." Lala try to sound sympathetic but she was horrible at hiding her emotions. That was how Lala was.
I hated my secret. I hated my mom. I hated the fact that I have to pretend i'm okay with all of this. You can imagine what happened when dearest mommy found out her daughter was sorted into Hufflepuff.
She's asked me to meet up with her for weeks. At first I avoided but I started going and the meet ups were more awkward than sentimental.
Now that I knew Jacks knew this made everything much harder. Much more complex. All I wanted to do was run and hide when I heard him confess.
Now with the timing of everything the annual Slytherin back to school party was tonight. It's by invite only and Lala was able to pull some strings to get us in. Im usually not the party type but I'm in desperate need to loosen up. "Im going to avoid him at the party. There's no doubt he will be there." I reassured myself.
"Not if he finds you first" Lala countered my words. She was not helping the situation. "You're not helping. I seriously can't see him tonight."
I cross my arms over the black dress I had on. There's a velvet glimmer to it and it's shorter than I would've liked but I told myself I would attempt to get out of my shell this year.
I move to the mirror and adjust the dresses thin straps. My hair was down and I put a black bow in the back to bring some pieces away from my face.
"Okay i'm sorry. I will try and help you tonight." Lala walked over to me and put on her heels. I got ready long before her so I've been ready for some time.
"I just want to have some fun tonight. Let loose, forget about the last couple of days." I look in the mirror one last time before Lala pulled me out of my dorm room.
I just need to avoid Jacks at this party and I can have a good night.
