Aurora Valor has to be one of the worst people to ever exist. Don't get me wrong I love being there for other girls but she makes it hard.
It's as if i'm a magnet to her. Her eyes find mine almost immediately as she enters the party.
please please please, no! not now.
"Evangeline! I didn't think you'd show." Auroras venom filled voice is enough to drive any sane person crazy. Nails on a chalkboard.
"So i've been told tonight" I cross my arms. Completely forgetting the fact that her ex is next to me.
Aurora never let anyone forget when she was dating Jacks.
"I heard from a little birdy you were in detention this week, the forbidden forest was it?" Her eyes glimmer with something evil.
Just as I was about to open my mouth Apollo Acadian makes his way next to Aurora. I wanted this night to be peaceful. I can see that it is going to be far from it.
"Hey Eva." He winks at me and the drink I just downed threatens to come back up.
"I was just asking Evangeline about her detention situation this week." Aurora smiled at Apollo. "What was a girl like you doing there at night?"
How on earth did she find out? I wanted to scream.
"Wait Jacks you didn't mention Evangeline being with you in the forbidden forest?" Apollo paints his face with confusion but I know exactly what he's doing.
This is like Apollo. To stir the pot. To make things worse.
My face has to be an embarrassing shade of red. This cannot be happening.
Jacks clears his throat. "I didn't. We wanted to keep it private."
wait. we?
"We?" Aurora and Apollo say in unison.
"That's right. We. Evangeline and I wanted to keep it a secret but since you guys are close to figuring it out. I'll just say it."
He wraps his hand around my waist and brings me in front of him as he holds me. I have no time to react to his movements and touch. And I definitely have no time to react to his next words.
"Evangeline and I are dating." Jacks says the words so effortlessly I can't believe what I am hearing.
Aurora shrieks "I'm sorry what?" Her face has contorted into something ugly as she gives me the death glare.
"We've been keeping it a secret for a while and have been meeting up in the forbidden forest for small dates like picnics."
Jacks voice is steady and sends chills down my neck. I hate him so much.
Apollos face is nearly the same as Aurora's but it's more confused than anything. "When did this happen?" Aurora finally speaks up.
"I've already said too much. I want to respect my relationship with Evangeline." Jacks continues to hold my waist with his hands. I can feel his chest rising and falling.
He definitely thought of this on the spot.
I am so going to kill him.
"Isn't that right Little Fox?" Jacks turns his neck and looks down at me. I look at him with panic, anger, and frustration. Until I realize I have to say something.
"Right!" I clear my throat. "Right. We are keeping things pretty exclusive between the two of us. This is the first time we've said publicly, that we are a couple."
I smile trying to look convincing, holding Jacks' hands that rest on my waist and stomach now.
The heat from his hands have made their way through the fabric of my dress. Goosebumps ignite on my arm as I try to ignore his touch. Wanting this conversation to be over. Wanting to punch him so bad.
"Apollo go get me a drink" Aurora snaps her fingers and with that, Apollo is gone.
"I don't know what you're up to but it won't last long. I don't know what Jacks sees in you." She crosses her arms.
Before I can open my mouth to defend myself Jacks quickly moves me behind him. "Speak that way to my girlfriend again and you will never be invited back to another party. I should have you thrown out right now."
I have to be in a dream. This can't be real. I pinch my arm. ouch. Okay definitely i'm awake. What is happening?
"Fine." Was all Aurora was able to say before she walked off into the crowd of the party.
I looked around and eyes were on me. People definitely heard this entire interaction. This wasn't something I could just pretend with Apollo and Aurora.
As soon as it was just the two of us I opened my mouth to speak. Before any words could come out, Jacks is pulling me through the party and up the stairs of the common room. More eyes have landed on us and I feel my face get hot.
