People were turning their heads and giving us odd looks. My hand tight on Evangeline's as I led her up the coil staircase.

As I suspected people were hearing the news about us in the woods. Aurora just had to be the first to open her mouth.

I saw the way Evangeline became smaller as Aurora kept talking. Something inside of me was lit on fire, I wouldn't call it protectiveness because that's not what I feel for Evangeline.

I just hate when Aurora thinks she has some type of authority because her family are the Valors. Here at Hogwarts nobody cares. Especially me.

As soon as we reach the top of the stairs I can hear Evangeline's voice much more clearer as she calls for my name.

My eyes search for the door and I walk both of us towards up. "Jacks what are you on?" Evangeline hissed.

I was about to hear it from her once this door closed behind us. I gently shove her in the room first and I follow in.

This should be the small study room- "You bring us to a closet?" Evangeline whisper yelled.

"This was supposed to be the study room?" I look around for a light switch.

"Jacks just stop. Get on with what you had to say." Her temper was very short tonight and if i'm being honest I enjoyed it.

I give up looking for the light and turn to what I assume is her face. "Go out with me." I bluntly ask.

"Okay you're definitely high." She laughed back.

"Not like that." I pause. Thinking about this plan and how it could work. "Trust me our mutual feeling of disgust is mutual."

"Well disgust is a strong word" the pink haired girl muttered.

"Anyways. What I mean is that our secrets are too huge for us to hide alone. If we pretend to date the news about the forbidden forest will just look like we spent the night together- on a date." I correct.

Weirdly I find myself wanting to change my words to be respectful towards her. what is happening? "The suspicions will die down about what either of us were doing in the woods and our secrets can stay secrets." I add on before she can say anything.

It's pitch black in this closet so i'm unable to read her face but I take her silence as her thinking.

"But what about the yule ball coming up? I heard Mattheo wanted to ask me out." Evangeline pouts and heat once again rises to my face and chest.

Mattheo never told me about wanting to ask Evangeline to the yule ball?

"Too bad Hufflepuff, if this plan is to work we have to be devoted boyfriend and girlfriend." I cross my arms.

"Okay. But what about when we need to break up. We cant play this charade forever?" She chimes in.

"We tell everyone we've been talking for months and are finally dating, we'll pretend to be together for a couple weeks, maybe months. Long enough to get people to forget about the news of the forbidden forest. Right now it's still pretty fresh." I answer faster than I would like.

"I don't know. This means we have to hang out. almost everyday." Evangeline says in a small voice.

"Just for a couple weeks and we can stage a breakup. we'll decide what to do with that when it comes up." I reassure her.

"This is the only way we keep each other safe. Your secret is just as big as mine. Both having the potential to derail our reputations." My voice comes out quieter than I wanted it to.

"I still hate you." She retorts.

Not being able to see her face but her worlds is a new experience. Her tone is flat, I can't read it.

"Oh come on Little Fox, that's no way to talk to your boyfriend." My smirk is displayed in the dark, I know she can't see it but the humor in my voice is all she needs.

"I never said I would go through with this plan." I can hear Evangelines movements in the dark, her feet shuffling against the floor and her playing with her hair.

In this space I notice she smells like sugar cubes and roses. It invades my senses and for a minute I enjoy it.

But once again I am reminded by reality who she is and what she knows.

It's not like I want to be fake dating her either. Hufflepuffs aren't my type.

"There's no other choice Evangeline." I adjust my arms.

"Unless you don't mind everyone finding out about your-"

Evangeline is on me in seconds, my body pushed against the wall behind me and her body against mine.

Her hand then clamps over my mouth. "Will you shutup? I don't think you know when to stop talking" Evangeline said in annoyance.

I move my head slightly to free my mouth, "Little Fox, it's just you and me in this closet. And the party is loud, the chances of someone hearing us are very low."

"I just don't need you saying it out loud." As if she has been in some dream sequence she removes her hand and body off of me in wicked speed.

Cold air fills the gap and it bites at me.

A long pause of silence grows between us and I offer to say something else but that's when she breaks the silence.

"Okay fine. let's do this." Evangeline's voice is loud and clear as she agrees to my proposal.

"But should set some rules." I groan at her words. "That's what makes you Hufflepuffs so boring, rules and guidelines never are in the same sentence as fun."

"This isn't fun Jacks. I have to pretend to date you." Her words bit back.

I stay silent wanting to hear what she has to say.

"No kissing unless absolutely necessary, like if someone asks us or whatever." Her tone is flat, barely any emotion.

"Woah Little Fox, starting off with kissing, are you sure this is only pretend to you?" She shoves my shoulder.

"PDA is absolutely necessary. Lala will be the one we have to convince. If she buys it, everyone else will." Evangeline says.

"Oh and absolutely no talking to other people while we are" she paused, "together"

"I thought that was a given?"

"Jacks. Girls like you. And I know your reputation. I'm just letting you know your typical habits have to go on pause until we break up."

I wanted to fight back but something inside of me wanted to let her keep speaking.

"Final rule. We absolutely cannot tell anyone about this, no family, no friends, even best friends. No one can know about this. It will make it easier for it to leak." Evangeline huffed out a long breath. "If news got out we were faking all of this, more suspicion will come."

These rules sounded easy. But with everyone's eyes on us.... Will we be able to pull it off?

"I should mention this. Quidditch season starts in a couple days and first game is us playing Gryffindor."

Without me having to explain much Evangeline understood what I was saying. She would need to come to my game.

"Okay yeah whatever that's fine" A string of words left her mouth. Another long pause before she finally spoke.

"Well this was fun but Lala is probably looking for me." As she turned to the door to leave; I heard the doorknob rattle.

Evangeline cursed under her breath.

"What's wrong?" asking a question I knew the answer to.

"It's locked."
