- Six Years Later.
Crash gasped as he awoke from yet another nightmare, this had been the fifth one this week and the second he'd had since last night.
He rubbed the sleep from his blurry eyes and eased himself out of Jett's arms, being careful to not wake JJ as he climbed out of the makeshift leaf hammock.
The blue eyed possum stifled a yawn and padded down to sit in the sand at the seashore of Misty Cove.
The main part of the cove had been destroyed by the flood a few years ago but Crash and his herd just moved further up North to avoid the wreckage.
Crash deduced that late morning arrived by the time everyone else started to wake up, Jett shot him a concerned look but stayed quiet, knowing better than to press the issue.
Just as Crash was getting up from his cross legged position he was surprised to see Manny of all mammals coming out from the trees and down to the beach.
"Manny? What are you doing here?". Crash asked, going up to the mammoth Patriarch.
"Well... I thought you and I could talk about some things". Manny started off nervously.
Crash rolled his eyes, catching onto Manny's true motives. "You really told Manny to come all this way so I'd talk about Jonah?". He asked, glaring over at Eddie.
"It was my idea, I'm really worried about you, we're all worried about you". Sid cut in gently.
"I don't need you to worry about me!". Crash replied harshly, trying and failing to stem the tears welling in his eyes.
Sid flinched and looked down sadly as Manny cleared his throat. "Crash, you and I are going on a road trip for a few days".
"Where?". Crash asked, folding his arms as he spoke.
"It's a surprise, now let's go". Manny replied, picking Crash up and placing him on his right tusk.
"Sid, you're in charge until I get back!". The blue eyed possum called out as Manny started walking back towards the forest.
The sloth nodded eagerly as Crash smirked at Zara and Leroy. "You guys are secretly in charge".
"Duh". Zara said with a small laugh as Leroy shook his head in amusement.
As Manny and Crash left the cove no one noticed that a familiar looking, spear wielding human girl was peeking out from behind the thick foliage of the forest.
Early evening arrived as Manny and Crash arrived back in the old ice valley, the blue eyed possum shivered since he was no longer used to the cold temperatures.
"We'll stay here for the night". Manny announced once he found a decently sized cave to bed down in.
"I still don't understand why you're doing this". Crash mumbled, sliding off Manny's tusk and getting to work on building a fire.
"Doing what?". Manny asked, his tone far gentler than Crash would have ever expected from the aloof mammoth.
Crash scoffed. "I'm having a problem and suddenly you want to hang out one on one?".
"So you admit you're not doing well?". Manny observed.
Crash rolled his eyes and turned away from the mammoth. "Goodnight".
The next morning arrived as Crash awoke once again with a sharp gasp, he placed a paw over his racing heart and looked over to see Manny wide awake, staring at him with a frown.
"I'm fine". Crash stated simply as he and Manny continued on their journey, where they arrived at an ice cave a few hours later.
"This is boring". Crash scoffed, folding his arms as Manny took his time to walk through the narrow ice caverns.
