- The Next Day.

When Crash awoke the next morning he instinctively reached over to wake JJ up, only to find that the young possum was nowhere to be seen.

Just as he was about to wake Jett up Crash heard distant giggling coming from somewhere inside the thick foliage of the jungle.

He carefully eased himself out of the hammock and walked over to the nearby clearing where JJ, Runa and Dalia were playing.

"What are you guys doing?". Crash called out with a grin.

"I wanted to show Runa around". JJ replied, coming up to Crash and giving him a hug.

"Don't go past the clearing alright?". Crash instructed, holding his son's cheeks between his paws.

"Yes papa!". JJ groaned playfully, squirming out of Crash's grip to rejoin Runa and Dalia.

Crash laughed and shook his head in amusement as a strong arm wrapped itself around his shoulders.

"Hey". Jett greeted softly, pressing a kiss against the side of Crash's head as he pulled him against his side.

"Hi". Crash greeted back, snuggling into his mate's side.

"Are you doing alright?". Jett asked, rubbing Crash's shoulder as he spoke.

"I've never been happier". Crash replied as his voice broke.

"Then why are you crying?". Jett asked, turning Crash around so they were both face to face.

"Cause it won't last, something bad is gonna inevitably end up happening". Crash sniffed.

"Even if something does happen, I'm always right here". Jett whispered reassuringly.

Crash bit his lip as a paw came to rest on his other shoulder, he looked to his left and saw Eddie grinning back at him.

It was only when Crash stepped back to turn around that the trouble started, the ground seemingly gave out from under him as he fell into a deep, dark pit.

The last thing he heard was JJ's and Eddie's panicked cries for him as he smacked head first into a jutted out rock, knocking him out cold.

When he awoke sometime later he looked to his right and saw a frowning Eddie sitting next to him on the dirt packed ground.

"What happened?". Crash asked with a small groan.

"I don't know, the ground just gave out". Eddie replied softly.

Crash nodded, crying out as his right arm seared with pain when he moved to get off the hard ground. "I think I broke my arm again".

"Your foot too". Eddie observed, looking at Crash's swollen foot.

"Great". The blue eyed possum mumbled sarcastically as he looked around. "Where are we anyways?".

"No idea, but It looks like there's a tunnel up ahead". Eddie replied as he got up and snapped off a nearby vine to wrap around Crash's broken arm.

Crash released a pained whimper as Eddie carefully got him to his feet and propped him up against his side, helping him walk as they tried to figure out what they should do.

The twin's trudged through the dark tunnel for a bit until stopping in front of a tunnel that seemingly led somewhere above ground.

"C'mon, maybe we can get home this way". Crash suggested, looking up at the bright light filtering through the hole.

Eddie nodded and kept a paw on his brother's back to support him as they carefully climbed up the roots sticking out of the dirt packed wall.

When Crash finally made it back above ground his mouth dropped open at the sight before him. "Woah!".
