Disclaimer: All characters that you recognize are obviously not mine, they're Rick's. I don't claim anything but the spectacular plot and these words. So if you try to copy my work I will blast you into oblivion. And this picks up right after Nico breaks the news to Percy 😜

I watch Nico saunter back over to me, a smirk playing at his pink lips. Behind him, Percy looked confused and sad, like he's a toddler and his puppy didn't run to him first after a day from being away. Annabeth was trying her best to hold Percy back.

"Wait, Nico! What do you me-" he was cut off when Jason literally swooped in and picked Percy up, carrying him off. I feel my eyes bulge out of their sockets and look over at Nico.

"Uh, what was that about?" I ask him, swallowing a few chuckles.

His head snapped up to face mine, blushed, and turned away. "It's um, uh... I don't wanna talk about right now." Nico stuttered, stumbling in his footing.

Awe, he's so cute. "Well, "I clapped him on the back, just wanting physical touch, "we have three days together in the infirmary. If you need to talk, I'll be there for you."

"Th-three days? Together?"

I scratched the back of my neck, "Well, not together together, but I'll be in there as the same time you are. Y'know, I'll be taking care of you as well as other patients." I felt a blush creep up the back of my neck

"Oh." Nico says.

"I mean, you'll be my number one priority because you can't Shadow Travel and if you do you'll be lost forever. A-and I wouldn't want that 'cause I like you. I-I mean, like as a friend. Haha." I finish off awkwardly. Wow Will, just give your secret away, why don't you, I think, wanting to slap myself. However, when I looked back over at Nico, he seems to not be listening, or paying attention. To anything.

"Hey Nico, you okay?" I gently elbowed him. He jumped and nearly fell over but regained his balance soon after.

"What? Yeah, just thinking about, uh, Leo."

"Oh," I hung my head and patted his shoulder again, "Don't worry, all deaths are hard to get over."

"Yeah, but that's not the point. It was weird, like..." He trailed off, pulling on his hair.

I stopped walking and stood in front of him. I put my hands on his shoulders, making him look up at me. "Nico, I meant what I said," All of it, "you can talk to me about anything. Don't be afraid, I'll understand."

Nico stared at me for a few, our eyes never wavering from each other's. "Why are you being nice to me!" He yelled, pushing past me and storming into the infirmary.

"At least you're trying, Will." I mutter to myself. I run a hand through my hair and follow Nico's footsteps.

Inside the infirmary things started to slow down. There isn't as nearly as many demigods today as there was five days ago; we had a lot more survivors than we thought. Maybe five or six beds are still occupied, including Nico's bed. Some of the patients died which was tragic but time moves on. You won't be able to save everyone.

Nico was already at his bed; his name tag at the foot of it decorated with cartoon ghosts and skulls, courtesy of me. "Who made the name tag?" Nico asked, a deep frown on his face.

I smiled and threw an arm around his shoulders, "I did, Death Boy!" He scoffs and ducks from underneath my arm and jumps on his bed. "Comfy?"

"Yeah, and don't call me Death Boy." He scowls.

I laugh. "Right. Well, I have to go check on others patients, but I'll be back."

"Take your time." I heard him mutter. I chuckle and shake my head. He's gonna be some work.

"So how long will you be gone?" Nico asked. He was propped up against his pillows, talking to Jason.

"Not too long, maybe about a month. I gotta make the plans first." Jason said and readjusts his glasses.

"It's a huge job you're taking on."

Jason shrugged and his glasses slid down his nose a little. "I made a promise to her and I keep my promises." Nico nodded and yawned and made that cute little kitten noise, too. Jason chuckled and patted his shoulder. "I'll come see you before I leave. Promise."

"Bye Jason." Nico said and slid down his bed and covered up. As Jason passed me, I blush because I was eavesdropping on their conversation. But Jason didn't seem to mind; he only sent me a little wave.

I walked over to Nico. His eyes were closed and some of his hair was in his face. I had to restrain from moving it. His pink lips were pouting. I also had to restrain from moving that pout, too. I shake those thoughts away and lay down some Ambrosia and Nectar, just in case when he wakes and he's in pain. I fill a glass with water also and leave an apple on the nightstand.

But I couldn't just leave. What if he wakes up and starts choking and no one is around? What if Nico has a bad dream and he starts moving around and his blanket falls off? What then? He'd be cold all night long and I can't have one of my patients freezing during the night. That's just unprecedented of me!

Instead of leaving the infirmary for the night, I pull a deck chair up next to his bed and sit down, draping a blanket over my body. I watched him for a little while, observing as his chest heaved up and down as he breathed. Little snores left his mouth every once in a while and I just had to smile at that. I don't know when I drifted off but it was late into the night. I swear to Zeus that I could just watch Nico for the rest of my life and always find something to love about him.
