My breath hitches in my throats as I search Will's eyes for lies, but I guess I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. How could he not think to tell me he had a girlfriend. Was all the things he just told me lies? Was he just playing with my feelings, or something? I look him over and scoot away from him.
"Nico, baby, let me explain." Will pleads, reaching out for me but I flinch away.
"Explain what, Will? That you have a girlfriend? When were you going to tell me? Were you ever going to tell me? What the... Ugh fuck!" I wailed, then remembered Jason was standing there. "Give us a second Jason. And don't stand at the door." Jason looks between Will and me as if he's uncertain but leaves anyway.
"Let me explain." Will insists. I nod my head and get off the bed and walk away from him.
"Go ahead."
Will sighs and closes his eyes. "Yes, that girl, Camille, may be my girlfriend but my mother forced me into it. Last year, she found out that I was gay. Camille is her best friend's daughter and our parents forced us together. I tried to tell my mom that she can't just make me love someone I don't want to. It doesn't work like that, but she insisted.
"Camille doesn't know about the deal and we went out for a couple of months and my feelings didn't change. But Camille, she fell for me. I couldn't take it anymore so I was going to tell her about what our mothers did. I wasn't supposed to, but it was wrong for me to just go along with the plan. Mom found out and made me come here year round. She told Camille that I'm at a boarding school. I completely forgot about her, I swear on Styx."
Will looks so sincere and sad. How could I not believe him? I huff and cross my arms, "Then why is she here? Does she know you're a demigod?"
"I don't know why she's here! And I haven't had the notion to tell her."
"Why didn't you tell me this before?" I give in and walk to the bed again.
"Well, I came here last year and we were at the beginning of a war so my mind was a little preoccupied at the time. Then I forgot about her and met you. I wasn't lying when I said all those things Nico. I really like you.
"What are you going to do?" I ask, ignoring his last comment.
"I'm going to go tell her about this whole thing." Will says confidently and jumping up. "C'mon." He grabs my hand and pulls me towards the door.
"Wh-what?" I stutter.
"You're coming with me." Will throws open the door, revealing Jason and Piper.
Jason was next to the door while Piper was on the steps, arms crossed and a frown on her face. Jason looks up and gives us a sheepish smile. I glare at him, "I'll deal with you later, Grace." I promise and pull Will pass him, wanting to get everything over and done with.
"Wait! We'll come with you. Just in case she causes any trouble." Piper interjects.
"Why?" Will asks.
Piper rolls her eyes. "Because you are guys and can't hit girls."
"Why would we need to hit her?"
"You'll be breaking up with her, right? Well, there's no telling what she'll do."
Will and I exchange glances and he shrugs. "Okay, just stay a bit behind and don't intervene unless you really need to." They both nod their heads and walk behind us.
As we get closer to Half-Blood Hill, I'm able to make out a petite girl. She has brown hair that's braided and reaches down to her stomach. Around her head is a light pink toboggan, matching her pink gloves and boots. ...And jacket. So basically she's wearing all pink.
When we got past the border, Camille squeals and attacks Will with a hug. Anger boils in my stomach and my fists clench; Jason puts a hand on my shoulder, but I'm guessing it wasn't just for comforting me. Will was trying his best to get Camille's vice-like grip off him but nothing was working.
"Okay, that's enough hugging." Piper steps in to use her charmspeak.
Camille immediately lets go of Will, stepping back and composing herself. Her cheeks were bright red, whether from the cold or Will, I don't know. "Sorry, I just missed you so much. Are these your friends?"
"Yeah, but I need to tell you something. We can't, um, date anymore, Camille." Will says, his confidence dying away.
"What? Why?" Tears struck at her blue eyes.
"Because it was fake from the beginning. Our mothers made me date you but it didn't work out. I was going to tell you, I swear, but Mom made me come here."
Camille didn't say anything. She just put a hand over her mouth and let her tears spill. Will takes a step closer to her, "Look, you're a nice girl and all, but I just can't do it."
"Is that why she's here? Because you found someone new?" Camille jabs a finger towards Piper.
"Yes, but it's not her."
"Then who is she Will? I wanna know what she looks like if you were cheating on me!"
"Calm down. Because technically, he wasn't even cheating if the whole relationship was fake." Jason pipes in.
"It's not a her, Camille. I'm gay and its him." Will says, looking at me with a slight smile.
"You asshole!" Camille screeches. She reaches up to slap Will, but Piper was quicker.
"Look, I don't know how you got here but you're going to go and not bother Will, or Nico. And never come back here." Piper says, staring intensely into Camille's eyes. Camille doesn't argue, she just nods pathetically and walks away.
"Thanks Piper." Will says. She nods and walks back into camp with Jason. Will sighs heavily and turns back to me. He was about to hug me but I sidestepped away. "What?"
"I might have believed you, but I'm still mad."
Will huffs, "Why? I said I'm sorry. I forgot about it all." I sigh and look at Will. His blue eyes were sad, but something shifted in them. "No, you know what? Fine, be mad. I said I forgot, what else could I have done?" He fumes before storming off.
Oh, gods.
