Cocktail Party

Once everyone in the room took a drink from their cup, a hush fell on the room. The guys looked at each other, I suspect to see who moves first. I look at all of them scanning the room, when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn to see Alex smiling at me. "I guess I'll start off. Would you like to go outside with me and talk for a little bit?" He askes. I smile at him and just shake my head in response. He takes my hand and leads me to the back of the house. There is a cute little gazebo lit up my candles and tea lights. He leads me to a sitting area and lets me sit down before sitting down next to me.

"I am so glad you were the one to grab me first. Once you came out of your limo, I couldn't stop thinking about you. You have this confidence in you that is intoxicating," I say. His smile just gets bigger and I could see a hint of blush rising on his cheeks.

"Well thank you Ally. I just knew that if I wanted to make any kind of impression, I had to do it fast. I've watched every season of this show and I knew I did not want to be the one guy you didn't to talk to." I just look at him in surprise. He looks back at me with a confused expression. "What?"

"I have seen every season too. It's like my favorite show. Well behind the Bachelor." I just about squeel. I have never met another guy that has seen every episode, well except Jace. He just looks at me and laughs.

"Of course I've seen every episode. The bachelor included. They are one of my favorite shows to watch. My family and I have whole parties when it's on."

"Oh my gosh, same. But it's only my roommate and I. Both my parents have passed. My roommate, Jace and I have these crazy rose ceremonies and everything. We do them for both series. Wanna know something funny? This is the only season we won't be watching together."

"Well you are going to be living it. Technically he is going to be watching it."

"Oh I made him promise not to watch without me. I will be watching my season when I get home. There's no way I'm breaking tradition for some little show."

We both laugh at that. "I don't think this is just some little show." He said while we both continued laughing. Before I could respond, another guy walked up.

"Hey Ally, is there any chance I can cut in?" Ryan says as he points down at Jixxy to sit. She obeys and looks at me. I look at Alex for any kind of hurt but don't see any.

"Of course. She's all yours." He stands up with me and hugs me. "Don't worry, we will have some more time together. I know it," he whispered in my ear before kissing me on the cheek. The warmth came back from the first time he kissed my cheek. I willed myself to not lean in too much. I don't want to make Ryan uncomfortable. When Alex pulled away, it took way too much out of me not to look upset from the sudden loss of warmth. He just smiled at me and walked off.

Alex takes my hand and started leading me away from the gazebo. He leads me to the pool area that had some sitting areas. There was a little spot with some candles lighting up the space. He let me sit down first, but before Alex could sit down, Jixxy jumped up next to me. She lied down and placed her head on my lap.

"Well hello to you too Jixxy," I said as I laughed. She looked up at me as if she was waiting for her required pets.

"Jixxy, down." Alex pointed to the ground waiting for Jixxy to obey. She just looked back at me and waited. I pet her on the head and tell her to get down. She nuzzles her head into my lap again and jumps off. Alex looked between us and takes Jixxy's spot.

"Well I guess she likes you," he says as he turns towards me.

"Well of course she loves me. Look at me," I say as I stand up and turn.

"That's all I can seem to do now," he responds after I sit back down.

"Okay, so tell me about yourself. Besides making dogs fall in love with you," he said look at me. "Well I can't help it. I'm very lovable." I laughed a little before continuing. "What do you want to know?"

"Everything, but only if you're comfortable talking about it," he said as he picked up one of my hands, placing a soft kiss on top and laying it on his lap. I forced myself not to blush and said," Well, I'm 27 years old and from Houston. My birthday is August 12th. I'm a Criminal Justice professor ...."

Alex's POV

When I got back to the main area with all the other guys, I grabbed a beer. I am glad I got to be the first one to talk to her but I didn't get a lot of time with her. Did I do enough to convince her to let me stay? I have no clue. Without looking absolutely scared out of my mind, I put on a brave face and jump into conversations some of the other guys are having. From the corner of my eye, I saw Chandler get up and leave. I guess he went to go look for Ally. "I will get more time with her," I thought to myself.

Alex's POV

Ally and I have been talking for like 10 minutes now and I see one of the guys walk towards us. "Don't look now, but someone is coming," I tell her. She turns around just as Chandler reaches us. "Hey man, mind if I steal her for a little bit?" He asks me then looks at her. She looks at me with a soft grin and I turn back to Chandler. "Yeah man, go ahead no worries," I said as I stand up. Ally followed me and leaned in for a hug. "I'll find you later." I squeezed her, backed up and turned to walk away. As I began making the walk back to the mansion, I could hear Ally already laughing. Before the doubts could come into my mind, Jixxy nudged her head into my leg. She looked up at me while we walked as if reassuring me that everything will be ok. Ally and I had an amazing conversation and I already feel like there might be something there. There's just something about her that draws me to her and knowing that I have to share her with all these other guys is going to be harder than I thought and it's only the first day. When I got back to the guys, I sat down next to Tristan, Eric, Kyle and Nick. I grabbed a drink from the table as they stare at me. "What's up?"

"Nothing really. We're just hanging out, waiting for our time with Ally," Jacob said as I take a big drink the dark liquid in my cup. "So did you enjoy your conversation? What did you guys talk about?" Tristan asked me. I could feel the tension but I was not going to let it get to me. "It was good. We just talked about some stuff and got to know each other a little more," I answered him and looked between the all. "Cool. Sounds nice," Eric said. "Yeah. You gotta take advantage of the time right and take the opportunity to talk to her?" I asked them all. They nodded their heads and then Eric excused himself, probably to go pull Ally aside. The rest of the night consisted of guys disappearing to go steal Ally from someone else and the rest of us just hanging out. "I'm so glad I didn't wait like everyone else and got to talk to her when I did." I thought to myself.

*time jump 3 hours later*

Ally's POV

I just finished a laughing fit with Mark when I heard my name being called back to the main room in the mansion. "I think that's our cue to go back." I said making us both laugh again. Mark got up and held his hand out for me to take it, which I gladly did. We walked all the way back to the mansion hand in hand and when we reached the door, Chris had rejoined us. "Welcome back to the group. If I can steal Ally away for a few minutes, that would be amazing," Chris asked. I let go of Mark's hand, hugged him, and then we went out separate ways. "Now that you got to talk to the guys, how do you feel?" Chris asked me once Mark is out of sight. "I know for sure that my partner is in there. I was crazy nervous before, but now I am a little more confident and excited," I responded. He smiled me and grabs one of my hands. "Here is your first impression rose. You can give this to one of the guys that had a good first impression. If there is no one that gave you a lasting impression then you don't have to hand it out. But if there is, you can go now and hand it to him. I will meet you back in the main room once it is time for your first rose ceremony." He squeezed my hand and turned around. I looked down at the rose and smiled. I already know who I'm giving this to.
