Lauren London
January 11Cassie and I were chilling in the apartment after I'd just finished cooking. We'd decided to have a quiet night in, watching movies and getting some homework done while Nika was at work.
"So, since when do you know how to cook?" Cassie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Cassandra, please. Let's not act like we haven't missed ten years of each other's lives," I said, rolling my eyes. "I'm a whole new person since we were kids." She laughed, shaking her head.
"I just didn't picture you as the cooking type."
"Is that shade, hoe? Because we can fight."
She raised her hands in surrender, grinning. "I don't want any smoke, but I do have a question," she said, eyeing me as I took a bite of my food, leaning over the counter to listen.
"Yeah?"
"It's about Onika..." she started slowly, making me raise a brow.
"What about her? Just spit it out, girl," I said, annoyed at her dragging this out. I hated when people beat around the bush.
"Is she into... women?" Cassie asked, her voice softer.
My eyes went wide. "Wait, why are you asking? Bitch, are you into carpet munching?"
She laughed but nodded, looking serious. "You never take anything seriously. But yes... yes, I am. I've been into women for a long time, just kept quiet because, you know... my dad and all."
"Honestly, fuck what the world thinks. We're too old not to be doing what makes us happy," I said, pointing my fork at her. "So if you want to eat coochie, then eat that shit."
"Lauren, please hush," she laughed, pushing me playfully.
"I'm serious. And about Nicki... yeah, she's into both. You got a little crush, don't you?"
Cassie blushed, looking away with a small smile. "She's really pretty, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little attracted. But we don't know each other like that. I'm asking you because I know you two go way back, and you live together."
I shrugged. "Look, it's not my place to say. I don't know where Nika stands on relationships or any of that-you'd have to ask her. But aww, you crushing on her little ass?" I teased, and Cassie smacked her teeth, laughing.
"What?"
"You're clowning her height like you're not shorter than her. That's wild."
"One more comment, and I'm kicking you out," I warned, giving her a playful glare.
"You would never." She smirked.
"So, where is she, anyway?" Cassie asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice.
