-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From Taehyun's perspective, Soobin was a mystery he couldn't resist exploring. There was something magnetic about Soobin's quiet presence, the way he moved through the world with a calm intensity, carrying a heaviness Taehyun felt an overwhelming urge to lift—just to glimpse the hidden depths beneath. He watched the way Soobin carried himself, the subtle gestures and silent strength he exuded, and wondered what thoughts lay behind those deep, thoughtful eyes. It was a fascination that went beyond simple curiosity; Soobin had become the enigma Taehyun was both captivated and comforted by.

Taehyun couldn't pinpoint when admiration had blurred into something more, but before he knew it, Soobin had settled into his mind and heart, occupying his thoughts more frequently and vividly than he'd ever intended. The loneliness surrounding Soobin sparked something fierce in him, igniting his imagination and making him want to reach across the divide between them. In quiet moments, Taehyun often found himself daydreaming—moments where he'd imagine Soobin looking at him with that same intensity he held when he thought no one was watching, the soft concentration that made Taehyun's heart race. Sometimes he'd imagine closing that distance entirely, leaning in, his fingers brushing Soobin's cheek, the coolness of Soobin's lips meeting his own in a soft, stolen kiss. It was an image that sent a thrill racing through him, one he savored in quiet, secret moments.

But it wasn't just a kiss he longed for. When his mind drifted further, Taehyun found himself with an almost embarrassing desire: the thought of being beneath Soobin, his head resting between Soobin's strong, lean thighs, those thighs pressing against him, firm and gentle at the same time. Taehyun bit his lip just thinking about it, how he'd be willing to stay there, perfectly at peace, completely entranced. It was an odd fantasy, but one that filled him with both warmth and longing. The idea of being held in that way, of being so close to someone who felt untouchable, stirred something deep within him.

But he kept these dreams tucked away, knowing that Soobin's world was his own—a carefully guarded fortress Taehyun wasn't sure he'd ever be allowed into. There was a fragility to Soobin's solitude, and Taehyun feared overstepping, afraid of disturbing the quiet sanctity Soobin seemed to cling to. Yet he found himself, time and time again, hoping that one day Soobin might invite him in, might allow Taehyun to ease his burdens just by being there. Until then, he would wait, content with lingering on the edges of Soobin's orbit, caught between admiration, longing, and a hope he dared not voice out loud.

Taehyun was deep in one of his daydreams, staring out the window with an absent smile and totally unaware that he was supposed to be gathering intel on Yeonjun's recent disappearance. His mission had been clearly outlined by Soobin, Beomgyu's  older brother and Yet here he was, with Soobin's quiet intensity taking over his thoughts instead of his actual task. He barely noticed as a shadow fell over him, too wrapped up in the daydream of Soobin's hand resting on his cheek, those quiet eyes watching him with—

"Taehyun."

The real Soobin's voice broke his reverie with all the subtlety of a slap. Taehyun jolted, snapping out of his fantasy, and nearly fell over his chair trying to sit up straight. Soobin was staring down at him with his typical reserved expression, though there was an unmistakable hint of irritation tightening his mouth.

"Soobin!" Taehyun said, too quickly, too brightly, feeling the blush creeping up his cheeks. "Uh, hey! I was just—um, strategizing."

"Strategizing?" Soobin raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. "For what, exactly? You've been staring out that window for ten minutes straight, and we're no closer to figuring out where Yeonjun might be."

"Oh! Yeonjun, right, of course!" Taehyun stammered, scrambling for a way to pivot. But then he noticed the amused look Kai was shooting him from across the room. The youngest was smirking, clearly having caught onto Taehyun's zoning out.

Kai snickered, leaning back in his chair. "Yeah, Tae, you looked real deep in 'thought' there. Got some big leads on the window? Or maybe you were just busy daydreaming about—"

Taehyun shot him a sharp glare, but it was too late. Kai was already glancing from Taehyun to Soobin with a mischievous look that screamed trouble.

"Kai, don't you have something better to do?" Taehyun hissed, but Kai was unphased, grinning wider.

"Nah, this is way more entertaining," he replied with a wink. "Besides, you've been so... focused on Soobin lately, maybe you got a little distracted from your actual job."

Soobin, however, was clearly oblivious to the undertone in Kai's voice. His brow was still furrowed in mild irritation, eyes sharp. "If you're done spacing out, Taehyun, I need you focused. Beomgyu's worried sick. This whole thing is delicate enough without distractions," he said, sighing. "You were supposed to look into those informants—now I'll have to do it myself."

Taehyun's heart sank. He'd been trying so hard not to let his crush get in the way, but Soobin's obliviousness somehow made it all worse. There he was, just another task on Soobin's checklist, while he was over here daydreaming about—well, things he couldn't exactly say out loud.

But Kai, who apparently lived to make things worse, didn't stop. "Yeah, Taehyun's been real dreamy-eyed lately, hasn't he? Wonder what—or should I say *who*—could be distracting him?" Kai shot Taehyun a sly look that practically dared him to do something about it.

Taehyun barely resisted kicking him under the table, forcing his gaze to remain on Soobin. "Right, got it. I'll focus," he mumbled, trying to keep his face from betraying him. "I won't let you down, Soobin. I'll, uh... look into that intel right now."

Soobin nodded, though he looked unimpressed. "I should hope so. We need everyone's full attention on this," he said. With one last, exasperated sigh, he turned back to his desk, dismissing Taehyun without a second thought.

The moment Soobin's back was turned, Kai leaned in close, snickering. "Couldn't take your eyes off him, huh? Bet you'd rather do anything but intel on Yeonjun right now."

Taehyun rolled his eyes, grumbling, "You're impossible."

"Please," Kai whispered back, smirking, "just admit it—you want to be crushed by those thighs, don't you?"

Taehyun shoved him away, cheeks heating. He shot a quick glance at Soobin, who was now absorbed in work, totally oblivious. "Yeah, well, it's not gonna happen," he muttered, forcing himself to focus, though a small part of him still held out hope that maybe, someday, Soobin might notice him in a way that wasn't purely business. But for now, it was back to work, with Kai's teasing and his traitorous imagination making it nearly impossible to concentrate.
