Soobin's mind was constantly churning, restless as he watched his younger brother, Beomgyu, spiral deeper into despair. Ever since Yeonjun had disappeared, Beomgyu had been a shadow of himself, his spark replaced by an unsettling silence that ate at Soobin every day. His heart twisted each time he saw the hollow look in Beomgyu's eyes, the way he seemed barely present even when he was physically there. And, worse yet, Beomgyu had started vanishing without a word, slipping away for hours—sometimes even days—only to return looking more defeated than ever.
It left Soobin feeling helpless, trapped between his desire to protect Beomgyu and his growing frustration at not knowing how to help. He knew he couldn't do this alone; that's why he had called Taehyun and Kai to meet with him. They had both offered to assist however they could, but even with all three of them working together, finding Yeonjun—and keeping Beomgyu from self-destructing—felt impossible.
As Soobin sat across from Taehyun and Kai, his stoic façade cracked just enough to reveal the turmoil roiling underneath. He pressed his fingers to his temples, eyes closed in a rare moment of vulnerability. "Thank you both for coming," he began, his voice low and laced with exhaustion. "I don't know where else to turn. Beomgyu... he's slipping away, and I have no idea how to pull him back."
Taehyun, glancing sideways at Kai, spoke up, his voice gentle yet steady. "We're here to help, Soobin. If there's any trace of Yeonjun out there, we'll find it. But... are you sure Beomgyu's not giving any hints about where he's going?"
Soobin shook his head, frustration creeping into his expression. "He barely talks to me anymore. And when he does... it's like he's not even there. I don't know if he's looking for Yeonjun on his own or if—" He stopped himself, the thought too painful to finish. If Beomgyu had given up on finding Yeonjun, it meant he'd likely lost hope altogether.
Kai sighed, crossing his arms. "We'll keep an eye on him, Soobin. He's been through hell, but he's still your brother. He hasn't given up; he's just... lost. And we'll find him before he does something drastic."
Just as Soobin opened his mouth to respond, the door creaked open. All three of them turned in surprise as Beomgyu stumbled in. He looked like a ghost of himself—clothes disheveled, eyes red-rimmed and distant, as if he'd been somewhere dark and hollow. Soobin's heart clenched, and he immediately moved to steady his brother, worry etched into every line of his face.
"Beomgyu... where have you been?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.
But Beomgyu just looked past him, eyes blank, his voice soft and broken as he muttered, "I looked everywhere, Soobin. I tried... I thought i could save him... h-he's... with ENHYPEN "
The words sent a chill through the room. Taehyun and Kai exchanged glances, both looking as pained as Soobin felt. Soobin reached out, pulling Beomgyu into a tight embrace, his voice cracking. "We're going to get through this, Beomgyu. I swear, I'm not letting you go through this alone."
For the first time in a long time, Beomgyu let himself be held, sinking into Soobin's arms as he let out a broken sob. Taehyun and Kai stayed nearby, offering their silent support, knowing that this battle was only just beginning—but it was one they would face together, no matter how long or difficult the road ahead.
