Seth warned me about Logan's group of friends and Halloween. Halloween was a time for kids my age to be dressing up, unless you were in Mean Girls, that case it'd be a reason for you to dress slutty and be the center of male's attention. But what Seth warned me was the fact that Logan and his peers tended to share a little more than just candies—something that I needed to watch out for.

"You should get that. Suits you." Seth complimented, motioning over the dress that was supposedly going to be the little black swan type, with shimmery feathers around the bottom. Though I'd kept my lips sealed at the time, my eyes wandered over the dress on the other side, the one that was a replica of someone from my favorite series would wear. It was no brainer to pick that over the one Seth picked out.

The Halloween bash was in full swing by the time we arrived. Nellie was dressed in a glittery tight-fitted lilac dress with a white feathery scarf slung around her neck to her chest. As opposed to Nellie, Brook decided to dress it up a little and came as a cheerleader from the famous singer's music video, the outfit she had customized and altered to her size, which she nailed off perfectly with her curled bob hair bouncing around every time she walked. Jake decided to dress like a basic cool guy with his army bomber jacket and khaki pants that ended over his knees. As for Logan, he attempted to dress like that guy from Big Bang Theory which he tried convincing us as the question persisted, "I'm Sheldon for crying out loud." but he ended up looking like he'd just rolled out of bed and forced to be at a party.

"Here are some shots." Logan delivered a tray to each of us after it'd taken such a hassle getting from the entrance to the bar over how packed the club was and some people were already tipsy that they didn't even see where they were going and almost knocked me over a couple of times. Nelly squealed and took hers, as did everyone. I took mine and downed a very small sip.

Brook grinned over to me, taking up her whole face as her cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink and red. "Looking dazzling tonight, I see. Let me guess." She eyed me head to toe, her brows furrowed. "Who are you supposed to be?" She asked. Logan and Nellie were only two bodies away from us, seemingly in a deep talk about something they saw earlier as the two were whispering to each other and glancing up to point over at something once or twice.

"Katherine Pierce. Thought it was obvious."

A petite-looking girl stumbled over my chest, knocking me over, then she started blabbering out an apology, but her lips turned into a wide grin as soon as she stared through my mask and the red lipstick. "Katherine Pierce? Please don't kill me, but damn are you so hot. I've always wanted to dance with Katherine."

"Well then, let's make it a good one." I pulled the girl's hand and twirled her around as we swayed side to side, brushing against each other's hip. Brook joined in our little huddle and her curls were bouncing left and right, swaying over my face as she was near.

"Oh look, Jake's sneaking away already." Brook downed another sip and raised her arm up enthusiastically, turning around to order another. She glanced over the rim of her glass while taking a sip, in the direction opposite from where we stood, Jake was walking further away and approaching the main stage area by the corner of my eye.

"What's he doing?" I narrowed my eyes, holding my glass close to my cheek, feeling its cold exterior spread over. Jake's head was fast lost amongst the sea of people, the last time I saw of him was he was talking with a guy whose back was turned on us.

"You'll see soon enough." Brook winked at me, walking away and joining in on the middle of the dance floor. Without even dragging me away, she swayed her hips side to side, then was moved away by another crowd until what was left of her from my sight was the ruffle of short blue skirt twirling around.
