Engfa's POV:

The request from Charlotte left me bewildered. I tried to process why she would think I'd fall for someone like her. It annoyed me to think she had the audacity to say it to my face. She should have warned herself. Instead, she might be the one who's gonna fall for me, not me to her. Never! I thought to myself.

It's been minutes, maybe hours. I don't know how long I've been standing there since she left. I was still trying to process the last part of our conversation when my phone rang.

I answered and heard Nessa's voice on the other side of the line before I could even say hello, "Waraha! What's taking you so long? Everyone's here, and the beers are already cold" it looked like what's supposed to be just a band practice will turn into a full-on party.

"Just finished drama class, driving there now" I said as I swung my bag and headed to the car park. "Okay! See you grandma! Don't drive too slow" Nessa hang up the call before I could even say something.

I arrived at Heidi's place, where several cars were parked outside. I parked my Corvette in the driveway and got off to enter the house.

The music was loud, and there was a band set up in the living room, ready for us to play anytime we wanted.

Heidi's place is enormous and her parents are usually away in Denmark to deal with their family business, so she always throws parties here.

"There she is! I thought you ditched us to be with your new girlfriend!" Heidi was the first to see me walk in. "Shut up, Jensen! I'm not in the mood to deal with your ludicrous remarks" I scoffed and walked past her to get a drink from the bar.

"Come on Fa, can't you take a joke? What's gotten you in a foul mood?" Heidi said following behind me. "Oh, nothing really. I just love that I barely have time to relax anymore. Clearly, I'm enjoying this punishment well." I said with irony.

I plopped on the couch next to Nessa and Tina. Pichy was seated in front of me; I gave her a quick nod. Heidi just looked at me beer in hand, "You know Fa, if I didn't know you like the back of my hand I would think that you really do enjoy hanging out with those nerds."

"Why would you think that?" Tina turned to Heidi with a questioning look. Pichy gazed in my direction then to Heidi waiting for her to answer Tina's question. I took a chug of my beer when Heidi finally answered.

"Well, Engfa Waraha gets away with everything. Your dad owns the biggest hospital in the State and your mom is a Tech Mogul. You don't really need to do everything the principal asks you to. You usually just threaten him into not donating and you'll be off the hook" she said to me like it's the most obvious thing in the world. I just looked at her with a blank expression.

She then continued, "So why do you act like dropping drama class, ditching the library task, and skipping community service on a Saturday morning to get more sleep which you usually do...is suddenly impossible for you to do. It's like you might actually be enjoying doing those stuff and I am not sure why."

"Heidi seems to have a point P'fa. Lately, you've been into these nerdy activities that you barely even hang out with us. You can always strike a deal with Mr Harris you know? He knows better than to reject a lofty donation from you." Nessa said like she was stating the obvious.

They were right, I could have easily gotten out of trouble by donating a hefty amount to the school foundation, but after what happened to Snack I felt like I deserved to be punished. But even then, I didn't expect myself to go through all of the damning demands Mr Harris asked me to do.

I was dragging myself to accomplish those tasks for the first few days until it became a routine. It's like something or someone was making me look forward to dealing with these activities that I was not used to. Suddenly, the punishment felt more like a haven for me. A breath of fresh air I didn't know I needed. And if I can be perfectly honest with myself, I am enjoying every bit of it, but I would never admit that to my friends.
