Engfa's POV:

Ever since I got that ultimatum from Mr. Harris, I have been having a hard time juggling my studies and all the extra activities assigned to me. I rarely spend time with my friends anymore, and whenever we did it would just be a few minutes of them teasing me about being friends with the school geeks.

We were all sitting on the bleachers during Gym class when they started with their banter. "Fa, how's your new girlfriend? I see you guys can't keep away from each other" Heidi started which gained her a glare from Pichy. "I wonder what hides underneath that cute floral dress she always wears. Hmmm... Have you seen it yet P'fa?" Nudee said with a playful tone while looking at Charlotte who was reading under a tree, a few distance from us.

I scoffed "Why do you think I even care?" Pichy looked at me "Because you spend so much time with her than your real friends" her tone unamused. "It's not like I have a choice. Wherever I go she just pops out of nowhere, it's as if she joined all the nerdy activities there is and I'm just so unlucky that I get to have that as my punishment" I let out a sigh.

"Careful, you spend too much time with her you might actually become like her, or worse get attracted to her" Heidi said half-seriously. I just shook my head, looked towards Charlotte's direction then said "Impossible. She might look all goody goody, but I think she's just like other girls who are easy to get" remembering the time I saw how close she was with Mew.

It happened a few days ago. I was just minding my business, looking for a quiet place to read the script for the Drama Club performance. Entering the auditorium, I heard people talking and saw Mew and Charlotte. They looked very intimate talking to each other, that they did not even notice me entering. I stared at them and suddenly felt uneasy. When Charlotte stood up, Mew hugged her and said something "Be mine? Give us a chance and be mine, that's all I ask" The air in the room felt thick. Suddenly, it became harder to breathe as I felt a tight not in my stomach.

I tried to walk backward as quietly as I could. I didn't want to intrude on their moment, hell, I didn't want to be there.

As I was about to reach the door, I stumbled. Both Mew and Charlotte stopped and looked in my direction. I just stared at them, baffled.

Mew is an attractive guy, and a lot of girls follow him around, so it would not surprise me if I saw him flirting in school. But Charlotte? I thought she was different, too good for flirting in public places. I even admired her for that to be honest, but seeing her flirting with Mew made me think differently. I turned my back on them and left. The tension was palpable but I didn't understand why it felt like that.

After the bell rang signaling the end of our class, everyone was quick to leave. My friends were waiting for me so we could all hang out and practice for our band. I needed to attend the Drama Club rehearsals, so I told my friends to go without me.

As I reached the school theater, everyone was discussing something. Everyone seems to be in a panic. Suddenly, Mrs. Warren, our drama teacher asked for our attention "Listen, everyone, we just heard news that Mew had an accident and broke his arm" Everyone gasped, hands on their mouths as they processed the information. "Don't worry, he is out of danger and is out of the hospital. Though, because of his injury, he can't play the main character role" everyone looked at each other.

"So, are we going to cancel the play?" Marima said looking worried. "No, but we are going to recast the main character and revise the story a little bit" Mrs. Warren then looked at me and said, "Miss Waraha, you will now play the main character alongside Miss Austin".

I was about to say something when Charlotte said "But the main character is a male?" confusion was evident on her face. With a smirk, Mrs Warren said "That's why we are going to revise the story. Instead of the usual male and female love story, we are going to make it a love story between two female leads. This story would open up people's minds about the LGBTQ community as well".

I turned to look at Charlotte who was looking back at me reading my reaction. I then turned my gaze to Mrs Warren "But this is my first time doing drama class, I am not good at acting, so why give me the lead role?" I said in protest. "Well Miss Waraha, I just thought the character would fit you well that you wouldn't need to act while playing the role. You just have to be yourself" she said like it was a no-brainer.

I huffed and ran my hand through my hair out of frustration. I was about to protest again when she suddenly spat "And I am well aware that you don't have a choice but to agree with whatever role you are appointed to Miss Waraha, unless you want to get kicked out of school" she ended with a smirk. I knew better than to disagree. I just gave her a subtle nod and stood up. "Alright Miss Austin, let's get started then." She just looked at me with a questioning look.

Well, this is great, she might not be happy knowing I replaced her prince charming Mew to be her stage partner. I shrugged my shoulders, "Look, I know you're not happy with this, and the feeling is mutual. Let's just keep it professional as much as possible, got it?" with that I took off, leaving the rest to deal with the changes that need to be done.
